These ACL performances on PBS were my intro to SRV at a very young age, probably 8 or 9 the first time I saw one of them, and I remember after he died the best of SRV was a regular repeat on PBS, to which I think everyone watching was happy to see. Still amazing close to four decades later.

People are going to rate guitarists but Stevie Ray Vaughan was a master plain and simple. So smooth, on time, with incredible progressions. A musician who was truly one with his guitar.

Years ago, a friend of mine called and said he had tickets to a SRV show at a cool old club in San Francisco, his wife was sick and did I want to go. I forget why but didn’t go and I’ve been pissed at myself ever since.
