Greatest lyric of all time. Glad Lizzy is bringing it to bigger audiences
ОтветитьI heard this song for the first time a couple days ago and it has to be one of the most beautiful and emotional songs I’ve ever heard! Simply amazing! ❤
ОтветитьThis is so beautiful. Gives me goosebumps every time i hear it, it always get me emotional. This guy is a true artist.
ОтветитьGotta be one of the greatest songs ever written. Just beautiful ❤
ОтветитьSo freaking awesome ❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьSo awesome again. ❤this song
ОтветитьI've always teared up anytime I heard this song but I heard it today for the first time since I lost my husband, and now I'm a total mess. This song is just beautiful and I love this acoustic version.
Ответитьdefinite the most underestimated song, beautiful lyrics!
ОтветитьThis is a perfect delivery of a perfect song.
ОтветитьMy favorite DJ Mark suggested this song when I asked him what his favorite band or singer was.
ОтветитьOmg, this guy is a lyrical genius! I'm not saying this as a fan but saying it as a first time listener. Bob Dylan reincarnated.
ОтветитьI'm convinced he could write a compelling song about dog shit and there's an understated jackson browne influence
ОтветитьGod, I love this song!
ОтветитьBrilliant and evocative poetic lyrics enjoy wholeheartedly.
ОтветитьI had heard this song probably 50 times, I loved the sound, but didn't really pay attention to the lyrics. Had it on one of my "Favorite" playlists on Spotify. I was dealing with a lot of emotional trauma, and was binge cleaning my basement when this song came on; and for whatever reason as soon as he said "Setting out to join a demographic" I realized what he was talking about. By the time the police officer asks what he is doing it for, I was literally on the ground completely releasing everything I was holding on to. I have never in my life felt so unbelievably vulnerable in my life. After listening to the whole song 5 or 6 times and allowing myself to really let the music speak, and really feel what was happening in the song, and in my life I felt lighter, cleansed almost. As an audiophile and songwriter I am very attuned to emotional energy in music. I just had never had a song impact me in that way.
ОтветитьMaybe one of only 3 or 4 dudes who could pull off wearing that hat. Fantastic song, great acoustic version. Thank you mucho poster person!
Ответитьi feel like adding to the demographic all the time.
I listen to it all the time.
This is tough for me... al the time
The Angels up above me....
DAMN
The last verse reminded me of something I heard on the radio: "In my humdrum life, the daily battle hasn't been good versus evil. It's hardly so epic. Most days, my real battle is doing good versus doing nothing. ... I've come to believe that while I wait to make a grand heroic gesture, I should just stick to the small inconveniences that let me share in life's inevitable, occasional calamity.
ОтветитьWith his back against the San Francisco traffic,
On the bridges side that faces towards the jail,
Setting out to join a demographic,
He hoists his first leg up over the rail.
And a phone call is made,
Police cars show up quickly.
The sergeant slams his passenger door.
He says, 'Hey son why don't you talk through this with me,
Just tell me what you're doing it for.'
'Oh, it's a little bit of everything,
It's the mountains,
It's the fog,
It's the news at six o'clock,
It's the death of my first dog,
It's the angels up above me,
It's the song that they don't sing,
It's a little bit of everything.'
An older man stands in a buffet line,
He is smiling and holding out his plate,
And the further he looks back into his timeline,
That hard road always had led him to today,
And making up for when his bright future had left him,
Making up for the fact that his only son is gone,
And letting everything out once, His server asks him,
Have you figured out yet, what it is you want?
I want a little bit of everything,
The biscuits and the beans,
Whatever helps me to forget about
The things that brought me to my knees,
So pile on those mashed potatoes,
And an extra chicken wing,
I'm having a little bit of everything.
Somewhere a pretty girl is writing invitations,
To a wedding she has scheduled for the fall,
Her man says, 'Baby, can I make an observation?
You don't seem to be having any fun at all.'
She said, 'You just worry about your groomsmen and your shirt-size,
And rest assured that this is making me feel good,
I think that love is so much easier than you realize,
If you can give yourself to someone,
Then you should.
'Cause it's a little bit of everything,
The way you choke, the way you ache,
It is waking up before you,
So I can watch you as you wake.
So in the day in late September,
It's not some stupid little ring,
I'm giving a little bit of everything.
Oh, it's a little bit of everything,
It's the matador and the bull,
It's the suggested daily dosage,
It is the red moon when it's full.
All these psychics and these doctors,
They're all right and they're all wrong,
It's like trying to make out every word,
When they should simply hum along,
It's not some message written in the dark,
Or some truth that no one's seen,
It's a little bit of everything.
Hands down one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

an old man is staying in upper Fayline?
ОтветитьI just heard this on the radio, quickly looked it up on their playlist.... and was surprised it wasn't Jackson Browne. I just love finding new artists. This was so sweet and such simple yet beautiful chords.
ОтветитьThis should the version on the album. So much emotion such a powerful song
ОтветитьIm one of the ones who had thier life completely changed and made better not just by this song, but by one single line.

ОтветитьMy only sibling and brother died of suicide on January 11th of this year.
It has been devasting to my parents. However people have shown up en masse to support us.
I heard this song about two years ago. It was incredibly moving. However it has taken on New meaning in my life.
Thank you for sharing it with the world.

You will be greatly missed.
Love this. Such is life.
ОтветитьLove this. I play it in my gig
ОтветитьWow
ОтветитьAs a teenager, you think the greatest opening line is "there's a lady whose sure all that glitters is gold and she's buying a stairway to heaven." You become an adult, hear this, and you KNOW it's "With his back against the San Fransisco traffic ... "
Ответитьamazing how much more i like this song solo and acoustic. i already liked it quite a bit. so lucky i finally get to see him with the avett brothers at red rocks this summer. it will definitely be a highlight of 2024… brilliant lyrics, dawes!

ОтветитьThanks for this song.
Ответитьthis has immediately become the most important song in my life
ОтветитьI wonder if the younger man from the first verse is the son of the older man? Or maybe all three men are the same person.
ОтветитьPretty much describes the political climate of the day. And I’m terrified of those who don’t understand it!!
I think the town hall concert was the most talented event of the century.
All should be proud of the work put forth and the effort put into the performance… I know it was an incredible event that will continue to inspire.
What a talent
