I've painted alot with acrylics , so knew about warm and cool colours, but it's great to see how watercolours mix.
Do you always go for colour harmony in your paintings?
Why was I never taught how to mix colours like this at school and university, thank you.
ОтветитьNew to watercolor and I’m so glad I found you, this is the best explanation of color mixing I have found, thank you 😊
ОтветитьHI M. PYLE,
Ten times I tried to find the green between "Artist" raw sienna and Ultramarine without ever getting it, I found a grey ! I confess not to understand.
Hy Oliver, wonderful mixtures! When i take french ultramarine from schmincke, it granulates very much. Sometimes it is fine, but sometimes, mainly in the sky, I don’t like it. Is the French Ultramarine from Dayler Rawney less granulating than the one from Schmincke? Do you know another brand, who makes less granulating French ultramarine, which I get in Germany?
ОтветитьHi Oliver, it's a great tutorial. To understand all your great tips and secrets you have to watch the video several times and take good notes. Then, as suggested by you, to practically copy everything you have seen. Thank you very much.
ОтветитьWow! This is by far the best demonstration ever. I love your paintings. Your colors are so spot on . After watching this I know why. Thank you for sharing this. An 86 year old from Canada
ОтветитьI’m sure everyone’s told you that you’re brilliant. I just found you because I just resurrected my desire to sketch and paint again. I’ve tried my hand on oil and acrylic (daubbled) and I love oil pastels but I’m just getting into watercolor and I can’t get enough of your videos. One day I dream of visiting the Lake District and doing my sketches and watercolors. Right now I use my photos from my travels to Sonoma and Ireland and later those of Austria and Greece. Thank you for inspiring me.
ОтветитьIt would be incredible if you could do a texture tutorial. The way you rendered the cracks in the rocks in the seascape is incredible, I'm trying to "reverse engineer" it but not having much luck.
ОтветитьSo many people paint with watercolour like they do acrylics or oil. You are a true watercolourist. I love your paintings and will try these exercises.
ОтветитьYou are an amazing teacher. I love your painting too.
ОтветитьSir, I’ve taken many painting classes and you are the first instructor to illustrate to me, the nature of cool and warm as it applies to the primary colors this explicitly and succinctly! Thank you very much.
ОтветитьYes very, very helpful.
Sound common sense mixing expertise.
Thank you so much Oliver.
Very beautiful colors in the painting
ОтветитьI have learned so much from this tutorial and love practicing and seeing how colors mix. I have pages and pages of samples and yes, it is helpful to make notes on these practice pieces.
ОтветитьThanks so much for this !
ОтветитьThis is amazing information- best color mixing demonstration I’ve seen so far. Thank you so much!!
ОтветитьI can’t get over how beautiful the rocks are! Thank you so much for this demonstration. If you don’t mind me asking, did you reserve the highlights with masking fluid? They look so precise! ❤
ОтветитьMotivating and informative demonstration. Can't wait to begin practical application now. Thank you!
ОтветитьWonderful video. I am a newcomer and not much idea till watch this brilliant presentation. I adore the sea and I really want to have a go a little seaside paintings. Now I can practice knowing what to do and what to look for, Thank you so very much (and I simply love your style of painting, the paintings are subtle and beautiful)
Ответить“That does not lead to better painting, it just leads to confusion” Brilliant!!
ОтветитьOliver, thank you!. I believe it's the first video that I've seen from your channel, ...and it is priceless! I began dabbling in watercolors about 3 months ago. The content in this video came at the perfect time for me in my journey.
Thank you so much for showing your step by step technique, explanations and application. I just subscribed & liked, and will be recreating your charts today.
I appreciate your skills in art and in teaching!
Спасибо за полезные советы! 🥰 Я тоже очень люблю ультрамарин
ОтветитьVery nice video as well as the other of the series. There is one thing that I don't understand though. The substractive colors as used in painting are yellow (red+green), magenta (red+blue) and cyan (blue + green). Why do you call them yellow, red and blue? Of course you are not the first to do this, but this naming has been the origin of lots of misunderstanding since times past.
ОтветитьThis has been the best tutorial to demystify colour mixing . I'm going to do the primary colour charts which will be very useful. Bless your Spirit . Jaz
ОтветитьThank you so much for sharing your deep knowledge. You are so inspiring 🙏🏻
ОтветитьBrilliant video! Did anyone catch the name of the cool primary Red? It sounded like he said “rose matta”? Looking for the correct name as I cannot find that color.
ОтветитьI loved this lesson and have subscribed. Thank you ❤
ОтветитьExcellent!!!
ОтветитьYou didn’t detail which cool, yellow and cool red you were using?
ОтветитьWish I would have found this video before buying all my DS tubes. So many I really didn’t need. Looks like really a core set of 12 would have been a better route.
ОтветитьYou are just fabulous teacher! I’ll keep tuning in. 🙏
Ответитьit’s really as enjoyable to watch as is useful. Thank you 🙏
ОтветитьI love to mix colors, but still learning. Very nice video on mixing.
ОтветитьAnother wonderful video, and I had to pause it to laugh out loud over the comment "my most profound insight to date...!"
ОтветитьOh this does look like fun (the exercises mixing primaries). Thank you for taking so much care, time, and effort to explain colours so thoroughly.
That painting is crazy fantastic. I could just sit and stare at it for an extraordinary amount of time,..... repeatedly
😂 Never occurred to me to move my colors originally on the pallet. Other influence would just close to 18 trays to make all those colors. Just to make the samples you made. ❤ Harmony is a perfect word to discribe your color mixes.
ОтветитьWhat a great Tutorial!!, Many Thanks
ОтветитьI'll tray playing with colors!!🎉thankyou!!
ОтветитьWhat a superb tutorial this is! Thank you!!!
ОтветитьIm a retired art teacher and have enjoyed your videos. Watercolours are a medium I've always struggled with so appreciate your demos. Do you use the more affordable Cotman pans for your demos?
ОтветитьI watched Dr. Oto Kanos video series about colour theory. Which contains an incredible wealth of information. But your video here tied it all up for me. In a practical, usable way. Everything makes so much sense now. Thank you for providing this. It's very, very helpful. You are a very good teacher.
ОтветитьA fantastic lesson I wish I had had this years ago!
ОтветитьThanks - so enlightening
ОтветитьThis is incredibly helpful! Thank you so much!
ОтветитьLightbulb moment..after 25 years of painting this was a eye opener for me and loved how you broke down the process without all the noise and confusion..thank you sooooo much 💕💕
