I started hitting against a wall when I first learned to play 50 years ago. Everything you say here mirrors my experience. Great video!!
ОтветитьI think the most impressive thing was that you were able to keep count of the balls you hit to a 500 total. Mental torture.
ОтветитьBeautiful. And we’ll never beat a wall either. 🙏🍃
ОтветитьHave a dedicated wall ball frame with a bit of lead tape in the head tip. Thank me later.
ОтветитьThere's a video made by a pickleball player citing studies saying "The wall is useless and you should never use it" lol.
Sure I'll keep hitting on the wall thank you very much
I've improved quite a lot since I switched to hitting on the basketball backboard. It's a lot more fun and much less exhausting, though a bit frustrating in the first place 😅 I do luv hitting against the basketball backboard, that's it 😂
ОтветитьYou're luck you did not end up with tennis elbow !
ОтветитьSo interesting! Thanks for sharing. I’m interested in the whole journey now.
Ответитьwhat a nice find of a video:) I have been hitting on the wall recently every so now and then...mainly because I couldn't find a partner on that particular day. I think we have a similar level - and a one-handed backhand - and I also have some balls not coming back straight. I am ashamed to say that not once did I stop to consider what that meant....Really learnt something here. Thank you
ОтветитьOh I fogot, take a Bluetooth speaker and play some tunes with a fast base line it helps make it less boring !
ОтветитьI hit against the wall regularly, but its a brick wall at a new apartment complex, so I get the odd bounce off the wall and this foces me to stay on the balls of my feet with a winder stance a lot lower. In orher words, its great for improving footwork and keeping low. Also, using slight flat balls is best so they don't bounce back too fast.
ОтветитьThe surface of the wall you are hitting on is not even, which makes the ball fly all over the place even if you hit the same shot. If you don't believe me, try a wall with a better surface. If that doesn't work, try a maintained indoor racket ball wall, but don't hit hard if the wall is thin because you will damage the wall. With a good wall, you can predict how the ball will bounce most of the time. But a bad wall will teach you to watch the ball carefully, react fast to the ball, and jump around and be fast on your feet. It is good for practicing against volleys because the ball will come twice as fast.
ОтветитьHow do you make it come back so deep, I feel like I have to swing very hard or it'll come back short which adds even more inconsistency lol
ОтветитьSounds like the meditations of tennis aurelius
Ответитьi find hitting on a wooden backboard much more useful than hitting against a concrete wall where the ball just shoots back at you super fast.
Ответитьi always felt wall hitting was good for low trajectory flat balls. i hit with lots of topspin and have a high trajectory. thoughts on that???
ОтветитьGreat journey to go and see with you. Nice to see similiar perspevtives and thoughts while hitting against a wall. I personally find your work funny, interesting and instructive at the same time. Will be watching whole series and waiting for your comments along the way. Good luck.
ОтветитьA wall is better than a hitting partner and you get used to playing with fast balls especially when the fluff comes off
ОтветитьI'd kill someone for a walk in my area.
Ответитьi support this 110% during the pandemic, i did morning walling for at least 4x a week, i really gained a lot in improving on all or most of the swinging aspects, single handed / double handed forehand, slice / top spin, double handed backhand, and service too w a target! and it is a great cardio workout as well!! thanks for sharing this Grit! k5 my channel!
ОтветитьI play on a wall A LOT and I always have a feeling I play much better when I'm hitting against it compared to an actual tennis court... I don't know why. Great video, it will be interesting to see how much you can improve.
ОтветитьYou will grow 5x faster if you post two or three times a week, i like the theme though
ОтветитьPlaying against a wall is probably the best drill pracise you can do! When I was 11-13 years old I would play over 8h every other day during my holidays. I was Borg v McEnroe all the time. hahaha
ОтветитьI gained a lot by hitting with the wall as well. One thing I realized is that you don’t move around with the tips of your toes. It will make you moving ways faster to reach the ball in this way. If you are curious you can find a clip of Ruud or other atp pro and focus on their footwork ;)
Ответитьyour the funniest youtober keep on the great work
ОтветитьIt's no use: The wall always wins.
ОтветитьDedication. Nice camera angles
