Gonna have to say youre full of shit, shotgun perfectly compliments the rocket launcher since RL has slow reload and only four shots, shotgun can easily finish off enemies that managed to get away after taking two rockets (which happens often enough to be a problem)

The gunboats are permanently glued to my soldier's feet because movement is fun (also i die too often to charge a banner (and the shotgun is boring))

Call it a crutch but I can never switch off the conch, being able to go off on a flank and do your own thing without needing to retreat for health after the first fight lets you be so much more aggressive

Mantreads are surprisingly good for fucking over a Pyro’s day, especially if you’re ubered, since they can’t damage or airblast you effectively. But even without Uber it still lets you get in close and beat them to death. Assuming you can tank the fire damage.
