I had said this in a comment to a different video. IMO Europeans do not understand or even fathom what true freedom is. They come from a place where people were "owned without being slaves" IE: serfdom. Europeans are still serfs to their governments and the EU. They dictate what you can and can't do and can change "your rights" at any time. Because of this they do not understand American freedom. Even Canadians don't have the same level of freedom the US does and as we see, their government is slowly eroding their "rights." The problem with this line of reasoning, these Europeans come to America and don't understand what our relationship is with firearms and why we believe it is imperative we keep the constitution in place. Places like California and New York, lead the way in trying to "own us" and dictate our rights "while not tripping over the constitution" which is why the supreme court is so tremendously important to keeping our rights and by extension our freedom. It is no wonder the left and the rest of the world dislike the American right, it is the only true example of freedom in the world!

The repudiation of guns by liberal (and many orthodox) Jews never made sense to me. I grew up around guns, my Bubbe carried a gun every day from the 50s until she died and she even used it on a would-be rapist once. She always told me “things for us now are good, but some day they won’t be so good and you have to be prepared.” She lost her cousins, aunts and uncles in the holocaust and refused to let her children or grandchildren suffer like that so she taught my mother and uncle and my mother and uncle taught me as a child.

Never Again has to have teeth or it’s a meaningless slogan.

I think 10 years ago guns were a lot more taboo among Jews. But today , i think 80% of the people in my synagogue own a gun.

So I grew up as an orthodox Jew - now combat vet who spent 2+ decades in or adjacent to conflict zones around the world & until 10/7, I always felt a little looked down upon by my own Jewish community for my association with guns, war, & "worldly things" - I am a fan of PPJ but I think he missed the mark on why Jews haven't embraced to guns for self defense.

It is simply a combination of two factors, the first being that we are just too small of a minority (2% of the US population, 0.2% of the global population) so if the societies we live in turn against us, no amount of guns nor skill at using guns is going to help us - we just do not have enough people. Really the best outcome that guns can provide is enabling a resistance, that won't win but may empower an underground railroad of sorts to allow for the evacuation of Jews to safety.

The second factor & this is true whether you look at Jewish history in Europe or the Islamic lands, is that historically, the idea of Jewish self-defense was the greatest sin a Jewish community could commit & there was nothing as likely to inspire a pogrom (massacre) than Jews engaging in or even owning the equipment to defend themselves.

In most of Jewish history, Jews were forbidden not only from defending themselves when attacked, they were forbidden from owning the weapons that they might use to defend themselves & the consequence of even being caught with such a weapon was likely the massacre of your entire village. So owning a gun was not a personal choice but a risk that you were putting on your entire community.

So in America & in pretty much the first time in our history, Jews were explicitly granted 2A rights, the cultural narrative of "don't provoke them" remained dominant & the cultural default strategy of political engagement to protect our communities rather than engaging in self-defense was simply too ingrained.

It makes more sense to me that Jews be armed! My first 9mm is a Masada made by IWI (Israeli Weapons Industries). It's a great pistol! They have a whole line of pistols and rifles; the Uzi is by IWI. I was totally shocked that the kibbutzes had most of their firearms in a centralized location, and that it's really hard for Israelis to own more than a pistol. American Jews are just as much a part of Israel whether they like it or not; and there are people in America that really want to cause them harm. I'm a Christian and love the Jewish people, and they should all become like David's Mighty Men.

In the 1990s I used to hang out with his cousin, Gary, at Chabad House in New Orleans when we both taught at Tulane University. I took Gary shooting; he didn't mind the .22LR, but he was intimidated by my HK P7 M13, because of the fire coming out the barrel. But he told me his father, who had a hardware store in Los Angeles (I think) bought an HK P7 M8 after the Rodney King riots.

His story sounds familiar. I immigrated here, became a resident and eventually bought a gun 2 years later. Father freaked out, super afraid of guns, mother was always saying 'be careful they are dangerous' brothers think I am obsessed. Wife and her family don't care for it either they just tolerate me at best. TLDR I am the only one in my family that likes or owns guns.

I learned about the Holocaust when I was 6 years old from our next door neighbor in 1963. I played with her son and they were from Germany. I saw a number tattooed on the Mother and Grandmother. I asked about it and was told how they got it. I didn't understand why at first but I learned. I also learned about Communism from them as well they had also escaped from East Berlin.

@ColionNoir I was hoping you would have cover or mention the story. of where as on Feb 15 2025 in Manchester, Kentucky. My 14yr old grandson upheld his 2nd Amendment rights. when he defend himself against, not 1 but "2 armed" home invaders. when he shot and killed both of them. please look it look it up and mention it. He is taking it pretty hard that he had to kill 2 people, and I am trying to help him psychologically accept what he had done was "just" and okay. I just thought that, the more he see's that hears and sees he did the right thing. the more he can accept what happened and move on.

I have never really thought about this before. I grew up in the 60s with actual Holocaust survivors. Our neighbor, Mrs. Rubenstein, asked my Dad to teach her son about gun safety, which led to a lot of range time for both of us. She was not going to allow anyone to take advantage of them again.

I appreciate him, like me, being a pro second amendment Jewish person.

That said he did a very "soft" reasoning of why most American Jewish people are anti gun. Almost all Jewish immigrants to America happened when eastern Europe turned communist. Fun fact most of the people supporting that were Jewish. Once the communists were in charge they, being jealous and allowing only the one religion (communism) to flourish, started doing pogroms against the Jewish people. So they left and came to America but brought their totalitarian leftist agenda views with them. One of those views is to be subservient to government with gun control. The "Frankfurt School" Jewish cabal is part of this importation of socialist thought. The post WWII democrats didn't allow great amounts of Jewish people here because the Jewish people already here didn't want them. They knew that what happened in Europe was going to totally change Jewish peoples sense of how they view government. That is why when Israel was founded pretty much the first thing they did was "machine guns for everyone". The already established leftist democrat American Jewish people didn't want a whole bunch of first, second and fourth amendment supporting new immigrants to show up.

Another issue is that tons of Jewish lawyers got rich accepting money from second amendment hating institutions. This is another legacy of the Frankfurt School immigrants.
