Hello from 2024! Sigma 18-50 F2.8 and 10-50 F2.8 have been added to the DC DN line, an they are both awesome
ОтветитьOne lense to rule them all - proceeds to offer 3 lenses 😂
ОтветитьHow about....... Today? Still the 16mm over the 23mm?
ОтветитьCan you please make a video comparison of Sigma 16mm f1.4 VS 18-50mm f2.8.
ОтветитьIn a newer Video showing your lenses This one is unmentioned. So it would be interesting to see a 2023 Update on this Video.
ОтветитьTamron 17-70 f2.8
ОтветитьThe Yongnuo 16mm could be a great alternative. Its lighter. Good autofocus. And also sharp. What do you guys think?
ОтветитьYour ND Filter link is not working, I'm afraid. Can you fix it, please?
By the way... for the Sigma 30mm 1.4, what ND Filter do you recommend?
Hi Arthur, which from the sigma trio is good for product photography? Thanks a lot in advance!. 😊 🙏 ❤️ Love your videos so much!
Ответитьmy only lense for my sony aps-c is the sony 15mm 1,4
ОтветитьHey Arthur. Would you still recommend this lens over the Sony sel35f 1.8, for a student photographer? Our daughter is learning on our a6000, and we only have the 18-105 f4. Her teacher reccomended a 35f so she’ll have a 50mm equivalent prime to learn on. As an only lens for a student, is it better to go with the 35f, since it has OSS, or is it better to this lens you reccomend since it has 1.4? Also she is a 12 yr old, so perhaps the weight and size difference for the sony35 is more ideal?
ОтветитьWait. I thought the 16mm was good for real estate ? I plan to do real estate. As well as promo commercials for local businesses. And possibly weddings. I need an all around lens. So I was considering the Tamron 17-70. And getting the 16mm for wide angle real estate shots. Another option I was going for was to not get the Tamron. And get the trio prime lenses for that lower aperture. But idk yet. Any advice? I was told 16mm would work for real estate. Any other suggestions.
ОтветитьBy the way your wife is so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Ответитьimagine if it had in body stabilization and focus switch
Ответитьwhich macro lense should i get for product photography on the 6400?
ОтветитьOK OK!!! SHEESH!!! I'll buy the lens..
ОтветитьFast forward to December 2022, is it still your favorite?
Ответитьwhy u can't used if for real estate?
Ответить$400 for a lens is super cheap. All 4 of my lenses for full frame were over $1000 each
ОтветитьHi Arthur, very nice video! I'm 100% begginer on photography and videography. Does this Sigma 16mm 1.4 works good with regular photography, like landscape when traveling, or casual day to day photography? Thanks!
ОтветитьIn a perfect world, you could have a 10-120mm f.95 😂 that would be amazing
ОтветитьWill this work on the FX3 for video?
ОтветитьI am financially stuck between 16mm F1.4 or 30mm F1.4 for my budget short film project. What should i choose ?
ОтветитьIf I can only have one huh? I've been getting more into shooting video, which caused me to abandon my beloved Nikons and moving to Sony (I picked up an a5000 for next to nothing to see if I'd like it, a5100 for the better video and then an a6400). I find that my lens needs are VERY different when shooting video vs photography.
On my a6400, well my "one" is a Tamron 17-70mm F2.8- It does EVERYTHING good to great, but nothing excellent. It's OK low light (I managed some good Milky Way pics with it in a good location), good sharpness, good portrait lens, good wide to medium zoom (roughly 24-105mm equivalent), good for vlogging, good for general videos.... I have the Sigma 16mm f1.4 and it's a firm #2- It's a low light monster, excellent sharpness, I like it for vlogging and general video shooting, but there are definitely times I miss the OSS (I could care less for photography, with the f1.4 any kind of normal shot there will be enough light for you to get a reasonable shutter speed). A Sigma 19mm F2.8 lives on the a5000 or a5100, which ever one I'm using as a webcam. It's a good focal length for that and the F2.8 is just enough background blur that people that know what they're looking at know that I'm not just using some crappy webcam.
So why haven't I sold my Nikon bodies yet? I don't have an equivalent to the Tamron 18-400 f3.5-6.3 that is my general walking around lens for that. Yes, a compromise lens if there ever has been one, as long as you understand that it's MUCH better then you'd expect. With an effective range of 24-640mm, it's the lens that I can shoot indoors at a kid's birthday party, that same kid's concert without having to fight with the other parents for a prime location to shoot from (pick a spot out of the way and use the sniper lens to get the shot), throw in the kayak or canoe for some LONG distance wildlife shots (there's an additional 1.3 crop that can be turned on to work similarly to Sony's clear image zoom extending this lens out to 800mm). Besides being not great in low light, it meant almost ALWAYS getting the shot (the optically best lens does you no good if you don't get the shot), it was my fault if I didn't get the shot. If I wanted something smaller and easier to carry and didn't expect the long range, then I'd put my Nikon 18-140 on it, still getting me 2x the range of the best that I have for the Sony, and if I wanted low light I'd go Nikon 35mm F1.8 (which is dirt cheap, smaller than all my Sony lenses with the exception of the kit lens, and I'd say just barely a hair behind the Sigma 1.4's in image quality).
I'm debating trying one of the longer sony zooms or Tamron 18-300, but there is just nothing that covers the range of the tamron lens on the nikon that would be considered a walking around lens, and not much that even covers the nikon 18-140 (which is smaller and lighter than the Tamron 17-70). I'm probably going to pick up a Sony 35mm f1.8, but that is 2.5-3x the cost of the comparable nikon lens...
Considering the a6400 and D7100 use the same APS-C sensor at the same resolution, I't surprising how bad the Nikon is at video and how limited the lens choices are the the sony.
I'm just curious....now (2yrs later) you also made a video on Sigma 18-50mm F2.8.....have you changed your mind? I'm a novice. Bought the 16mm F1.4 after watching your video. Which I love a lot. Been thinking if I should trade in and get the 18-50 F2.8 instead...please help! 😅
ОтветитьHi, im getting the a6000 and im hesitating between the sigma 19 and 30 mm lenses to go with it. I mainly shoot indoors (in abandoned places) so similar to real estate photography.. id also use it for travelling and a street photography but would the 30mm be too much of a “close up” for indoor photography? (I dont do portraits at all btw)
Ответитьtamron 17-70 is a good choice
ОтветитьAwesome video.
Still a good lens for Sony a7c?
Can I use Sigma 16mm to shoot portraits? As I see the wide angle lens tends to pinch in at the center when the object is close. Thanks
ОтветитьFuck the nd filter don't need it seems like a scam there!
Ответитьshit why didn't I find this first!
I got the sony 35mm as my only camera but I'm having doubts due to how zoomed in it is
Only issue is.. the 16mm sigma has no stabilisation. I would get the 18mm-105mm but the quality doesnt loo so great
What’s the ND filter for this lens?
Ответитьwife has bought me this today really looking forward to using, always use your channel when looking for new lenses etc , my go to channel , thanks for all the videos much appreciated
ОтветитьAfter two years, are you still using it or switched to newer lens?
ОтветитьI think if I could only have one lens on an APS-C camera, (I use the a6400), I would probably say the Tamron 17-70, as it's good in low light, and the ability to control depth of field is good as well. I think I would have to own something like a Weebill S as well, (which I do), and so if you have that, you are pretty much covered for a lot of various types of shooting. But I agree, the Sigma 16mm is a great lens, and it could be a good all around, my-only-lens type of lens, although, personally, I think I would prefer to have either the Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 or the Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS as my lone lens, if it would be a prime. And only the Viltrox if I had a gimbal, because of the lack of stabilization like the Sigma. The Crane M2 works well with the Viltrox. i have used it with the Sigma as well, but it's more challenging with that combination. I used to think the 18-105 would be a great all around lens, and it is a good lens, I like it a lot, but you have to have really good light for that lens to work well, and forget about night time shooting, even if you have a cloudy day, that lens really struggles. At least in my experience. I generally work carrying the Sigma 16mm and my Sony 35mm f/1.8, and that gets me great results, never feeling like I'm missing anything, 95% of the time. But that's two lenses. ;) "If I could only have two lenses..." ;) Awesome video as always, I'm a fan of your work.
Ответить"price / performance ratio" = value
Ответитьi want same blur as your this video. Can you tell me the lens name
Ответитьoff topic but what lens did you film this on?
Ответитьhow is this vs the 18-35mm? f1.8
Ответитьdoes this still stand true today?
ОтветитьAs much as I use primes for a few projects, my passion is travel so I look for a small camera and lens package that is capable of a variety of shots. That's why a 24 - 70 f/2.8 spends 95% of the time on my full frame and a 17-70 f/2.8 stays on my Sony a6XXX series of cameras. So while I love the 16mm f1.4, it's a specialty lens for dawn and evening shooting.
ОтветитьLink has expired for the nd lens filter. Is there another for this one your recommending? 🙏🏽 thanks Arthur. I like your work. It’s really helped me.
ОтветитьHey nice video, what aperture should we use for landscape video. Thanks
ОтветитьBro, which mic you are using on your 6400..?
ОтветитьTamron 17-70 f/2.8 - sharp, versatile, VC (OSS analog). Such a good lens!
ОтветитьHow does this lens compare to Tamron 11-20mm f2.8?
ОтветитьDefinitely getting this lens. My only concern is when recording during night, the oversaturation of the orange streetlights. Can this be corrected via white balance, or is it something inherent with sony cameras?
ОтветитьHi Arthur 😁, can you make a video on how to take portrait shots in sigma 16mm, that would be really helpful 👍🏽
