10 years later but this video is still relevant 😂
ОтветитьWatching in 2024. Great Lecture! Thank you!
ОтветитьI messed up my registry and do not have a backup or restore point, tried clean reinstalling windows but the issues are still there that is some applications and games were working before the changes were made but are not working now.
ОтветитьAs a presume we’re all proud Geeks here…I can’t stop myself from pointing out that notepad does not always save as a txt file. That wasn’t true when this was made either. To start with, rtf (possibly added after this) but I’m sure we all know that .bat works and there’s others as well. In a technical lesson about the registry it seems strange that he wouldn’t be clear that he’s presumably meaning “by default”. He’s specific with the other terms so that was strange to me.
ОтветитьThank you professor.
ОтветитьVery insightful video! As a fairly new tech, I am just learning how to navigate and troubleshoot the registry. This training has worked out well so far.
ОтветитьMORE RESPECT TO
THIS PROFFESOR! :)
He is an unbelievable amazing teacher
ОтветитьThe best teacher i've ever seen
ОтветитьThumbs up. Lovely and amazing lecturer.
Ответитьwindows registry is shit. things disappear for no reason. microsoft is a monopoly, computers must be blank and people must decide which operating system they want. lenux is much, much better, much robust and faster.
Ответитьlinux uses .conf extension not .txt... you can see text files in linux... txt files are not system files... i just keep editing as i run into false claims, nothing in linux is hidden. oh yes, im gonna get into that data centre
ОтветитьAwesome! It's rare to see such an amazing teacher in this era.
Ответитьwhat a great teaching

ОтветитьYou are really a fantastic instructor I have ever seen. Very cool, sound and calm.
Ответитьyou can see txt files in linux with ls -la so if it is hidden as system file then you will be able to see it as it lists all files including hidden ones.
Ответитьi wish i was in that class room
Ответитьi am the 201th comment
ОтветитьThis guy was fantastic. Great information here completely for free. Thanks man!
ОтветитьThanks for the intro. I'm getting ready to edit the registry because I need a specific application to prefer IPv4 to work properly.
This provided a great intro so I have some idea of what I'm looking at and how to protect my computer from the potential stupid mistakes I will probably make in such a critical part of the computer. I'll be following a tutorial but I didn't want to be making changes blindly.
This was entirely engaging. Amazing lecture
ОтветитьThanks a lot for explaining Windows Registry in such a way. 👍👍
Ответитьloved your video Thanks for making such good video
Ответить9 Mins in... by far this fella is one of the best lecturers I've ever encountered.
ОтветитьGreat lectures Mr Vanderpool! Thank you for airing them online and providing people with an opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills!
ОтветитьVery info-rich video. Also really like your style. Well done and thank you sir - this is invaluable.
ОтветитьLOVED THIS!!!
Ответитьwhy didnt I get a lecturer like this :(
ОтветитьUnicode and efficiency are in conflict. The vast majority of technical strings in the registry have no need for multiculturalism but still often end up using twice as much space in classic 16-bit unicode. GUIDs have been part of the Microsoft universe from the beginning. They could have a binary data type for those to save space as well. Also I don't believe the registry always resides in physical memory. That was not possible in days of 32-64 MB PCs with the registry around 1-2 megs. I laughed at the exciting 64-bit integers.
ОтветитьYou can see text files on Linux....I'm not sure what he means by "you can't see your notepad file in Linux"...It'd show up just like everything else! Furthermore, some configuration files are indeed visible in the file explorer. Some are hidden to prevent damage, others simply to reduce clutter.
Ответитьim a 53 yo IT newbie, and this was explained from the beginner level, VERY WELL DONE!
