Being an ‘05 guy, it’s interesting seeing how being gay goes from acknowledged but taboo, to a weird grey area of accepted, but mocked and still treated as taboo to some degree.

I watched this film when it was new. I hated it then and I do now.

Cracka stop talking like an annoying side character in a 90's comedy.I'm a lesbian btw,this is not about him sounding gay.If a girl talked like this I'd slap the shit outta her.

Hailey and Diana's actors fell in love irl. I'm convinced.Deez bitches had to much chemistry.That lap picture felt to gay.

I love how that one gay man schooling the protagonist so hard has the only genuinely great scene in the entire movie and it absolutely slaps, and we're supposed to think that the homophobe leaving like a worm after failing to give an answer is the hero?

Erhm, nearly every Christian I have interacted with that knew I have been in gay relationships have been hurt by that knowledge, by screaming at me to get away. 😏

I find that the consistent theme in these movies is that people who aren't perfect "Christians" are such because of some flaw or being "mad" at God...

As a christain myself i still dont understand why they hate gay people so bad cause when they tried to tell us all they told was based off a single peice from the bible and an domino effect that doesnt even make sense if anythign christians are technally also disobeying the bible by not treating people as they want to be treated

The bible, like every single piece of literature about god, was written by humans. If God himself were to give me a book that had rules in it, I'd follow those rules. But Im not gonna blindly follow a book because someone said that god said these things. We don't do that in our law system, why would we do it with an entire belief system? All of religions is just one big "Trust me bro."

That analogy of someone looking harmful and turning out to be friendly can also be applied to the entire gay rights movement. Someone looks to be threatening your way of life but it turns out they’re just supporting a minority group and supporting the idea of freedom in a nation founded on it.

The Bible (or from what i got from it) does say being gay is a abomination deserving of death sadly, but it also says the same for every sin, that we all sin, and that no man sins less or greater than the other (which is why Jesus gave his life). Homophobic Christians are just major hypocrites using a religion about love to justify their hate.

I agree this movie is awful for all the reasons you gave, but I’d like to make one point clear. The Bible doesn’t say that homosexuality is a sin. Taking the context of history and the context of the verses into account, it would be much better to say that the Bible says the following same-sex behaviors are wrong:
• Gang rape
• Temple prostitution
• Treating a man like a woman in order to shame him
• Having extramarital affairs with other equal-status married men
• Using sex for extortion

Those are all plausible explanations of what the Bible was saying when it speaks of homoerotic behavior, and if they were applied to straight people, the practices would be forbidden. None of those are acceptable practices today, even if the protagonists were heterosexual. The Bible never explicitly forbids loving, committed same-sex relationships.
