There would never be a scientific study about "main lobsters being better", since well, its a subjective consideration, and not scientifically probable hipothesy. However, many species change depending on the conditions they live, and its likely theres atleast a study about the differences both canadian waters, maine waters, or any other (or just more salted and less water) have on the species of lobster

Its interesting to see how most of these restaurants who didn't become overnight successes after he left, are always salty about him: those who failed are utterly trashing him and the show, but those who at least somehow succeeded are somewhat dismissive of him and the show. I live in Maine. Some rich asshole from New York who thinks a "New England lobster shack" is trying to do anything high brow is an idiot. Come up to Belfast and eat at a place like Young's Lobster Pound. They'll serve you some fresh seafood and it'll come in paper boats. It'll taste good, and it won't be accompanied by some dipshit from New York joking about accents.

I have enjoyed your recap videos, and I realized this video is 2 years old, but as a former reality show producer I just wanted to mention that it might be a good idea to balance out these videos a little by more strongly stating that reality shows should NEVER be taken as factual evidence of anything. The owners of most of the restaurants are picked because they are inept, weird, and make good cannon fodder for Gordon--I guarantee that the then have to sign major NDA's to not discuss the show. I'm actually surprised they didn't get a warning for posting negative stuff about Gordon afterwards.

The truth is that even though the Black Pearl owners were almost certainly horrible bosses and should never have owned a restaurant in the first place, the owner that said all the edits were made to make them look bad and Gordon good is almost certainly a true statement. Trust me, it's more that "editing the footage a little", as you state. Show producers will stoop to anything to create more tension. I've actually seen money offered to participants to badmouth others.

The main concern of any reality show is not to improve the lives of the participants, but to create as much drama as possible in order to entice people who like to watch that sort of thing. Just hope your watchers understand that.

i think the only study needed to see the difference between maine lobster and canadian lobster is that one sells for upwards of 50% more than the other and people are still willing to pay for it and chose it over canadian lobster

I'm from Maine. Of course, the US gets most of their lobsters from Maine, while Canada gets most of theirs from Nova Scotia. If you look at a map (with latitudes!) of both places, you will find that Nova Scotia is at exactly the same latitude (or below) that of Maine. The water is not colder in Canada's lobster territory than Maine's. Not even a little. Lol.

They’re Canadian Grade Eh Lobsters

To interject on the lobster they are the same species however there is not only a noticeable difference in meat to shell ratio but also they do taste different.

If you have either lobster frequently you would be able to notice the difference but if it’s new or infrequent you probably wouldn’t be able to tell as it’s a subtle difference in taste.

Its crazy that Greg was the best owner and he was not one of the originals. The two main guys that opened it just had no idea how tf to run a restaurant, just wanted one. Greg actually tried.

Whether or not lobsters really are better in Maine than they are in Canada (I'm not a chef or marine biologist) people who regularly eat lobster THINK they are better and are therefore willing to pay more money for a Maine.

David knows this, hence the lie.

If I were to get on a reality show to publicize my restaurant, I would at the very least make sure the cooler/freezer are clean with fresh food. Everything would get a deep clean, maybe even hire a professional cleaning company.
