1. They did merge HL2 and episodes in a single game.
2. #1 didn't even require to run them all on a single engine. There are lot more ways to implement this, if you had a brain.
3. HL2 with latest updates before anniversary has already been using the same engine version as episodes, like 5+ years now.

Half Life 3 Days Later and wow the stuff they've added/done is sick

So my assumptions are, that the 20th anniversary update, is the remastered collection. It has worksop support, hl2,ep1,ep2 and lc in one game, and minor improvements.

Increase entity limit for CS:S, please. Perhaps even brushsides limit if possible.

It's understandable why it's unlikely but playing all hl2 content as a seamless experience would be wonderful

My takes from the update:

* Custom campaigns via workshop (maybe classic black mesa included as example of a mod that can be loaded ?)
* Synergy as a full coop option in the main menu with steam pipe multiplayer
* Classic 2004 mode and a remaster mode 2024
* QOL for controllers and inputs
* New archievements
* HL DM 2 being added to main game as a menu option
* Old E3 test engine maps and demos avaliable to the public to see it in first person with old and new dev commentary
* New models for the remaster mode 2024
* Half Life Source Campaing as a workshop auto installed addon (now with fixed and working)
* Full access to HL 2 beta access (The HL 2 Beta mod team nuts after getting their hands on this)

lol, who cares. I wrote halflife off completely years ago when it became completely clear that valve didn't have the spine to do a full sequel. They could have done one at any time, and they were too scared of messing up their reputation.

From a preservation standpoint, options to restore quirks and small changes from the original/older versions, like the much faster SMG fire rate.
Beta content would be cool obviously, like optional cut weapons, maps and enemies.

Hopefully the only thing Valve will show isn't that Nvidia RTX update, because that would be pathetic and a piece of garbage for the anniversary.

Ironically, they say that they were working on HL2 remakes but they scrapped them and preferred to just add RTX and that's it.
