Bridgend in Wales is a quiet place, and not where one would expect to find ultra-conservative conversion events.

Described as cultural visits, the First West Baptist Church of West Monroe, Louisiana visited Bridgend following a series of suicides in the area. While they were there, they ended up speaking to schoolkids about gay marriage, creationsim and celebrating the number of people they've managed to convert to their religion.

Taking us through her hometown, Anwen Sleath (TNM Reporter) reveals how the church made contact with people in Bridgend after a series of suicides in the late noughties.

In interviews with ex-pupils Will and Kate, Anwen finds out how kids in these schools complained about the visits but nothing was done. Anwen also speaks with an ex-biology teacher from her own school who remembers confronting the church about their views on creationism.

While the First West Baptist Church says it came to Wales to help people, their presence continues to sit uncomfortably with many who were there.
