Lemang Rice: Authentic Method for Hari Raya

We’re so excited to share our latest adventure from the Bentong area with you. We started our day with a fun boat tour on a beautiful artificial lake, guided by a really funny uncle who owns 8 boats! He rents them out to people who want to fish, and the whole place is surrounded by stunning palm oil plantations. It was enjoyable, something we’ll never forget!

Then, we got to experience something really special—learning how to make Lemang rice in the traditional way. Our awesome Workaway host, Zaki, and his friends did all the hard work, finding bamboo in the forest the day before. They showed us each step of the process, but we missed the final cooking part. Luckily, Zaki took some great pictures of the fire procedure, so we could still share it with you!
