Considering the acclaim he's gotten from some more recent roles like Longlegs and The Unbearable weight of massive talent...he's really reached by Cult classic status

Cage is a great actor I know the comments have established that. The reason I enjoy his movies is because I saw most of his films at an early age. The first being national treasure when I was probs still a kid. I knew he was a well known actor at the time, but it took me a bit of time to actually watch a lot of his 90’s movies. Mostly tho faceoff, leaving Las Vegas, and raising Arizona are my top cage movies, but yes I enjoyed his performances in both national treasure movies along with ghost rider (well only the first one because the second wasn’t very good) to this day buddy had been a gem

I would put Cage's energy, work ethic, role commitment, and acting range up against anybody else's in Hollywood.

Just look up Abed talking about Nic Cage from the show Community. It's even better if you watch the whole episode, Introduction to Teaching. Season 5 episode 2. A perfect summation.

Don't forget Snake Eyes and 8mm. Two of his more underrated films in my opinion. Wild at Heart is probably my favorite though if I had to choose.

No joke, Nick Cage is my favourite actor of all time. It might sound strange to say but I don’t really care for actors but he’s one of the very few that I’d genuinely want to meet.
He seems like such a misunderstood dude.

@moviewolverine89
@moviewolverine89 - 21.02.2025 18:56

So to summarize:

- Changed his name to avoid piggyback off his famous family and instead make his own way in the business.
- 100% commits himself to every role, no matter the budget, for the entertainment of his audience.
- Spent the GDP of a small country on ridiculously cool shit like a T-Rex skull.
- Refused to file bankruptcy and instead owned his mistake by putting in the work to grind his way out of debt.
- Not politically preachy, snobishly elitist or(as far as we know) a p*d*phile.

In other words, Nic Cage is a goddamned legend.

Cage has been one of my favorite actors ever since I was a kid, and the meme-ification, irony poisoned discourse around him as a bad actor pisses me off.

Do you think any of these people have seen Leaving Las Vegas, Moonstruck, Joe, Pig, Raising Arizona, Wild At Heart, etc?
