Hello and welcome back to my weekly 'slow life' vlog. In this week's vlog I'm trying a new recipe from Meera Sodha's new cookery book 'dinner'. The book was an early birthday gift to me from my family. This isn't sponsored, I just thought it'd be fun to share. I'm making one of the curries, with rainbow chard from my garden. As always, I couldn't help but freestyle the recipe a little bit. I swapped a few ingredients to match what I had in my store cupboard, and added a few things to make it extra filling. Outside of the kitchen, I made myself a Chopin fangirl t-shirt with an iron on transfer. It's a nerdy, but all the best things in life are a little bit nerdy!
This week we have also given our Victoria plum tree a hard prune, as it's the last chance before autumn sets in. We're hoping that giving it a good prune will help it grow back strong and healthy next year, so that we can enjoy a bigger harvest of plums in years to come. It's an older tree, and it's not been very productive for us. I found this pruning video really helpful in showing us what we needed to do and how to go about pruning a plum tree:

If you're new to my videos, hi! My name is Stéphanie and I live in Birmingham in the UK. Here on Eighteen and Cloudy I share calm and peaceful 'slow living' vlogs about how my husband and I try to live as simply and sustainably as possible in a big city. We live in a flat, and rent an allotment garden from our local council on which we grow food and flowers. In my videos I document what we're up to each week on the allotment, recipes we try, and the arts and crafts projects I love to work on.
We're both vegan for animal welfare and environmental reasons, but my videos aren't preachy or explicitly about veganism. It's how we live and shapes our decisions relating to products we consume and use in and out of the kitchen, but whatever your lifestyle or beliefs I hope my videos inspire you to try something new, or simply allow you to pause for a moment during a busy week and relax for a while as you join us on the plot and at home in the kitchen. If you enjoyed this video, take a look through my archives and subscribe to keep in touch. I release a new video each week.
