So, being Canadian we're kind of like half and half in terms of how we do things. Partly American in some aspects and some more European style. I will say, one thing that happens in the USA that I actually don't think is a bad thing (and I'm very critical of the USA) is I don't think their pleasant "good morning" is a bad thing when you're walking. Nothing wrong with a simple gentle /happy hello when walking. Just a thought. Only becomes weird if the person gets into your business like "what you doing? Where you going?"
