ОтветитьThat is the sound of inevitability.
ОтветитьI've looked for years for a copy of this. Wish I had a clean copy. In our present day it's as right as it was then. I have no problem with the science mistakes. Anybody who has read the limits to growth looks on After the Warming as carrying on the science of The Limits of growth. Only wrong in the degree. I'm 70. I'm glad I will not be around for the next 70 years. A lot will die, some will survive. You need to read a lot of science fiction and marry it to what's happening to see the road maps into the future. The Book of Eli, The road? I hope there are enough resources left for the next species that might come along.
ОтветитьThose "news" snippets at the beginning... remember this was released in 1989.
ОтветитьI remember this. I was 19 in 1989. There was a mini-green renaissance after the Montreal Protocol in 1987. Unfortunately, it was all dead by 1995. The science continued quietly in the background. It was well understood what would happen. And here we are.
ОтветитьI showed this in my Future Studies class for several years. Remarkable how much we knew, and how optimistic this was. The ad with the parents dumping their kids was brutal. I wonder what the reaction to that would be today? (I don't, really.)
Ответить"The Japanese running everything"....well that didn't age to well.
ОтветитьAFTER THE WARMING...comes the hot., comes the depopulation. Rapa Nui folks. Humanity has killed itself off regionally many times. We will do it to the whole planet because we are an aggressive species who always fears "the others" are the problem. Not us.
ОтветитьI saw this in Sydney in my early 20's gave a story to my growing awareness of the issues. It meant i was depressed in my 30's and now increasingly cynical in my 50's. Morbid curiosity about what we have install for us all.. hope democracy hangs about and we learn how to make hard decisions. Good luck all.😅
ОтветитьMan we're fμ¢k€d arent we 🥲
ОтветитьThe East Europe bit didn't come true as far as I can tell, Russia's economy and consumption is still a shadow of what it was in 1991.
Ответить1989 - near tip of the Japanese price asset bubble, felt strongly throughout the video😅
ОтветитьProblem is neither is the renewable energy totally carbon-free...you have to mine those materials and then produce those things like dams and wind turbines...
Ответить💚👍
ОтветитьMr. Burke was right.
ОтветитьYeah, I watched it in the late 80s.
Now it's 2024, lie, lie, lie.
Don't believe
All politicians.
Need more money, please.
Swing and a miss. Hind-sight is 20/20.
