Acceleration Mastery ⬇️ What made Su Bingtian the most polished acceleration technician in the sprint game, displaying technical proficiency in ALL of the essential principles of acceleration. 👇
(Aside from also being exceptionally well-trained & possessing the raw physicality)
He consistently displayed: 👇
⁃ Big thigh separation (more distance to accelerate the foot through)
⁃ Closed knee angle (direct horizontal foot path when extending the hip)
↪️ Kick-back (⬆️ negative foot speed) & Hit the ground with shin angles already in place
⁃ Shin angles in line with torso angles (parallel throughout acceleration)
⁃ Hips & shoulders rise with every consecutive step - in synchronicity
⁃ Every consecutive step displays a more vertical strike (attack angle) & consequently projection (vertical displacement - bounce
⁃ Foot swing shapes gradually change from linear to more circular
Notice how closed his knee angle is early in the acceleration & therefore the attack angles are very horizontal,
And they get slightly more vertical with every consecutive step as the knee angle progressively opens up.
🔹️Attack angles dictate projection angles (to a certain degree)
(Shins need to angulate and drop forward in order to apply force horizontally. Now if the contact is initiated too much in front, with too vertical shin orientation at the moment of contact, then the transition (angulation) into horizontally oriented shin position will be much greater & the support phase will be extended)
🔹️Force application direction and limb re-positioning are tied to each other.
Meaning: Foot/heel recovery is tied with how we are directing and applying force into the ground.
As speed increases, so do torso position(s), attack angles (displayed by shin angles before ground contact) & projection angles,
And the limb angulations & shapes displayed change alongside it...
- From more Linear ↔️ to GRADUALLY more Circular 🔄 & then Elliptical 🔁 in the front side action in upright sprinting.
Learn from sprinters who execute all the elements masterfully. Drop the myths & trends‼️Su never dragged his toes... 🤷♂️
