Delta Elite 10mm

I love the pistol but I’ve never seen you miss so many shots. Pistol or you?

I own a Colt Delta Elite MKIV, varient 1, dob 2014,and agree with your video, including the comment about the beavertail comfort. No problems with the gun but I did remove the plastic wrap around grip in favor of aftermarket G10 grips which helped a bunch.

So, Jeff Cooper and his wife Norma developed 10mm to smash watermelons? Have they never watched Gallager? Reminds me of police, think the 1980s, revolvers .38 special underpowered, .357 mag too much. Think 10mm developed for FBI? Do not know why many 10mm based on the 1911 (palm safety) platform.

I just saw this video on the 10mm (being new here), A Delta Elite is a favorite of mine since 1990. I Shot one for years , now at least 2-3 times a month. One time, at the range, a few years back, an answer to your question, the early ones came with the double spring but also a "specially configured polymer guild rod." Well after 10 mags or so I noticed a small piece of what appeared to be a chip of kevlar. As I field stripped the gun , sure enough the special guild rod parts were "leaving their post" so to speak. No big deal ,age, heat maybe? After a second of OMG! I was able to get a Colt double spring. I then made a sized guild-rod from a full length cut to fit-so no more problems since. Just a weird experience, as you asked. I wonder if you can get the original NOS guild rod if desired, well parts do wear out. JR...Great Channel.

I was always a skeptic of 10mm. Just because of the whole Metric vs standard crap. I converted one of my 1911’s over to 10mm and oh man ! What a cartridge really goes well with the 1911 and boy at the power. Very impressed to say the least. I guess I’m a 10mm fan boy now. lol

.40sw is a better version of the 9mm, and the 10mm is a better version of the .45 caliber. 9mm and .45 caliber owners are doing it wrong :)

Actually I own from 2 years a 1990 Delta Gold Cup, she holds up like a champion, precise and reliable. Hope one day I'll find an Elite to own/try. I finally managed to find some original Norma 200gn ammo and can't wait to try them this week end. Thank you for the super content Hickok

If there was one handgun I'd never give up, it'd be my Delta Elite. It's just so freaking beautiful and packs quite a punch.

Edit: I should add that mine is a newer model with a bigger beavertail, flat main spring housing, custom black and white grips with colt markings on them, angled slide serrations and novak sights. It's a thing of beauty and I love it.

Having said that, someone took it apart before I bought it and put an idiot scratch on it which makes me sad.

Traded a Coonan for a Delta Elite and a case of 10mm little over a decade ago. It’s cool when ya trade with a good friend you can still shoot em both lol. Been a really good 1911, pleasure to shoot.

I love my Delta Elite. It’s solid and a very good shooter. The sound of the 10mm being fired stands out on the range.

How much these cost roughly?

I have a new 10mm delta had problems till I got about 500 rnds through it and polished feed ramp and deburred the end of barrel...vary nice now!

The bullet of 10mm is very fast and has excellent stopping power,probably that was the goal of the developers of this caliber,greetings from Balkans,Macedonia

I own a sig p220 hunter in 10mm and have shot a delta elite just like this one. Both shoot very well. I wanted a colt since they were released.

My delta 2012 is awsome all though its 80 series can do any wrong with it had to go with extended controls seems wider than average

10mm Auto is just such a badass cartridge. It's like if you left a .357 Magnum and a .45 ACP in a room with some mood lighting and an FBI agent watching. Wish it got more love in the media, too- games tend to skip from .45 to magnum cartriges.

Hickok must be a newbie to the 10mm cartridge. .... The 10mm was introduced by Norma of Sweden in 1983 specifically for Dornaus & Dixon Mfg.'s Bren Ten pistol, then the first and only 10mm gun. After D&D crashed and burned into bankruptcy in 1986, there being no other 10mm pistols in existence, the cartridge was immediately declared " a dead round" by all the gun rags of the 1980s. In 1987, however, Colt introduced the Delta Elite and suddenly the 10mm wasn't dead anymore. The rest is history: Glock, S&W, the FBI adoption, etc., and yadda, yadda, yadda.
Hey Hickok: ... dude, if you're going to review and range-test a 10mm pistol, at least have the integrity to do it with REAL 10mm factory ammo, not diluted .40-level junk ammo like American Eagle (180gns @ 1040fps). Try Buffalo Bore, Underwood, Double Tap, Grizzly Cartridge, or even the hot 180grn FMJ "range ammo" offered by Sig, Fiocchi, MagTech, and Underwood. Those makers will run a 180gn 10mm bullet anywhere from an upper mid-range velocity of 1250fps to a near-max velocity of 1350+fps. ... You can thank me later.
