Hub Vs Non-Hub Smart Bulbs

Thank you for the video and the hub vs non hub experiment. It would be great if you could get an average and a standard deviation for each result to get a more complete picture.

How many non-hub bulbs were used in the test?

I also have the Google Wifi with 3 units in the mesh. I wonder how well the google mesh router can handle the bulbs?
I'm thinking the data will all be handled through the Master unit in the mesh.. 🤔

I bought the lumen man smart bulbs and I hate them once you get them hooked up to Wi-Fi you can’t turn the wall switch off or it will go off line and then you have to reconnect them it’s such a pain in the butt. My question to you is I’m gonna go ahead and get the Phillips hue with the hub am I able to still use my light switches with those without it going off-line?

One thing to consider when buying smart bulbs with a hub is availability of extra bulbs. I bought the Sengled Elements Starter kit off Amazon with a hub and 2 X B22 ceiling bulbs in the UK on offer for £19.99 way back in March 2019. They've been excellent and haven't failed once. Problem? Amazon have been out of stock of additional bulbs for 12 months. This comes as Sengled have moved more into selling hub free bulbs. So my option is to buy another starter kit just for the bulbs and have a spare hub I don't need or go down the hub free route. One thing I like about Sengled is you can still use the light switches. With Hue you can't - so I'm told. Also with Sengled I don't have the hub attached to my router. With Hue you have no choice but to have it permanently attached.

Comparing upload and download speeds is pointless when comparing internal network performance. Speediest has so many variables that using it to troubleshoot wifi issues is I'll advised.

Iv just brought 6 non hub bulbs for the driveway lights and some go offline then back onso I brought a Wi-Fi extender and they still go offline. Also brought a new tp link router. Would a hub solve this issue? Thank you

Hi , I got a question , I use Xfinity , My smart blub use to work , but since they upgraded my modem to XB6-T & running 5 ghz , I can't connect to any of my smart light blubs anymore , do I need to buy new 5ghz light blubs ?

These bulbs are a rip off, they are dim as fok but claim to be just as bright, constant flaws, such as interference, disconnects, and cheap components makes them unreliable. With time they get even dimmer, I got a house full of these things and I guess they are better than nothing, but I regret having invested on these POSs. Just my 2 cents.
