Thanks for the info! I'm in the process of creating a Universal Monsters jacket and wanted to have the words "It's Alive!" in glow fabric paint on the back. I had no idea where to start before watching this video.

This is so cute and fun! I don't like spray paint on fabrics either... Totally disappointing. I tried it on a jacket one time and it just kept sucking the color up into the jacket and making that jacket super stiff. This came out really cute.

sorry for a silly question but can someone tell me how to open a scribble bottle? First-timer here. Do I unscrew the cap cuz that seemed harder to open than a pickle jar. When I squeezed the bottle I saw the paint come to the top. Or do I just puncture a hole through the tip or something?

Dharma Trading Company (online) has really good fabric paints and dyes. Also lots of fabrics white tees to paint on as well.

The different products (paint, etc) will let you know on the package how handle it to make it permanent. For some it’s nothing, for others in need to be heat set, etc.
also the puffy or 3-D paints - it take does take them awhile to dry, but it looks really bad when you use it with the brush. That kind of product isn’t designed to be spread out with a brush. I have been making shirts using this type of paint for almost 30 years, along with iron-on fabric appliqués and it is obvious that this artist really isn’t qualified to be demonstrating these items. There are so many things she has left out. Check for videos by companies such as Tulip and Plaid for correct instructions on using the paints & pens. There are even fabric inks that you can use your stamps with.
Also the reason her star mask wasn’t successful is that twofold: the paint seeped underneath the stencil because she didn’t adhere it down to the shirt. There is a spray to use with stencils called Pixie spray and it’s a temporary adhesive that you can use with paper or fabric, also she didn’t wait long enough for it to dry. I’m not sure why she was in such a hurry to finish this, but I think her outcomes would have been much better had she researched her products and techniques a little more or at all. It’s almost like she was demonstrating what not to do.
One big thing is that you need to put a piece of cardboard inside your shirt to ensure that paint or anything that might bleed through your shirt front won’t end up on the back of the shirt as well. You can get inserts for T shirts at the craft store and that are cardboard with a coating to protect not only the other layer of shirt, but also to protect the surface you are working on. They are cheap and you can use it over and over again. Last thing is that I use a discarded kids easel to stand my shirts up on to see what they will look like. It’s nice to be able to take a step back and view your design from several feet away, and when you think about it- that is how they will be seen - a few feet away and not close up. Be sure and put your shirt flat if you are using something that might trickle down. Iron-ones and fabric pieces are ideal for cute multi-media designs. There are some very neat, modern abstract, grunge iron-ons for sale and you can cut and piece them as you like. If using pieces of fabric in the design of say a flower or a fish, trim the edges of the fabric neat and close. Use transfer paper so that you can iron them on to the clothing item, then seal the edges with a line of Scribbles or Tulip paint. Practice with the bottle to make sure your line is neat and straddles the edge of appliqué to the shirt. Also always wash your creations in warm water. Cold water will crack the paint. I have worked hard and given these creations as gifts. A relative didn’t believe me about the warm wash and ruined all my hard work in one laundry load. The cold water did indeed crack the paint…. Made me sad.

I'm partially blind, but am trying to make a custom version of a G.I. Joe figure who wears a camp tank top. I couldn't find a camp one, so I want to try to paint a solid dark green tank top to make it came. So it will wind up looking like a camp watermelon. Do you have any recommendations on using a lighter colored paint on a darker colored fabric? Will the lighter colored paint stay true to color, or will it darken? Thanks!

Now I understand how to use those small bottles of 3D fabric paint: Let each layer dry and then paint another layer on top.Otherwise they are too transparent
