My dad bought a 2ndhand1993 Y60 Nissan Patrol back in 2015. Tbh it's not really cared that well aside from regular engine maintenace, the body panels had a bit of cosmetic rust here and there. Still runs great, never let us down on our long travels and still as reliable as ever, even at 414,000km. If he doesn't sell it off before I graduate, I might just resto-mod it for him 💙

It's sad that within mainland China, BYD (and probably all the other auto makers tbh) are trash. They cut ALL corners in that market simply coz they can get away with it and it shows. The internationally released models don't have any of these problems. Why? Because they can't. BYD are desperately trying to build an international reputation/brand. One single incident like this from an intl model and that's all it will take to crater them. So they actually have to make good quality cars for the intl market.

And Trump is being slammed for putting tariffs on these POSes.

The tow hitch is attached directly to the vehicle frame so there should've been no damage. The frame metal steel should be much stronger. And if a new vehicle had complete failure of the braking system in the USA there would be an immediate investigation by our government. Consumers are protected here and no manufacturer can survive with poor quality products.

I still trust some chinese car brands. The Great Wall Motors group seems to be the most reliable one and you can trust the frame and the engine. And some models from the Chery group are reliable too, despite horrible mistakes when lauched, like brake failures in the Chery Tiggo 8.

Never, NEVER buy a recently launched model from China. Just wait a pair of years or buy a model you can trust
