"Apparent design' sounds a lot like other"intelligent design" and similar pseudo-Christian fallacies this channel promotes. You can't be closer to truth when you're further from reality.

All the stumped confusion here about how to bridge the apparent gulf between cognition and feeling in bacteria and in ourselves arises from an underlying assumption that is unproven: that consciousness is an emergent property of matter or information; and an underlying confusion: cognition and feeling are not consciousness, they are objects of consciousness.

As long as the "science of consciousness" remains bound in this confusion it will not make fundamental progress, and continue dancing around the edges looking for "neural correlates" and the like.

evolution isn't "apparent design" except to people who are so desperate to extend their lives that they ignore everything to the contrary.

Just because an organism senses it does not mean that organism has subjective experience. The phenomena of subjective experience is a whole layer of cognition above mere sensing.

Brains and minds are a byproduct of a native nervous system. Without looking into complexity in being it will all be mystifying.

The neevous system is creatively engaged with stress conditions. The brain also serves this function, language is a tool for describing tensions, frictions, and pressures.

Body, heart, and mind are all conscious of their own existence and expressive potentials. The integration is a matter of alignment in awareness. We are more spirit than materials. Belief is living a live expression. Scepticism is belief decaying and unravelling. Science is a trick, decaying complexity unravels and some lab-rat records the breakdown and claims life contains such complexity.

The problem here is the perception of one dimension (the elemental) instead of three dimensions (consciousness; mind; elements). Of course with the materialist perspective it starts with the elements; with matter and of Darwinism as still gospel. Little wonder they have a problem here, and philosophers have the ‘hard problem of consciousness’. The philosophy of biology? Philosophy has to do with consciousness; psychology with the mind, and biology and material science with the elements. There is no such thing as the philosophy of biology. Biology being elemental does not have a philosophy and philosophy should not be used int this context or to study elements. This is as nonsensical as sociobiology being universalized which its adherents attempt to do. The pagans worshiped nature but at least it had an entity the Goddess it was not seen as just matter or elements; it was moe than one-dimensional. It is denied by materialists that there is consciousness or mind in nature still it has a philosophy?
The problem here is randomness to non-existent prototypes. We could build a crude building without ideas, architectural planning, or a prototype, just go out and assemble it randomly from what is in the immediate environment, and it would be crude. Evolution did happen and humanity had its own prototype as Da Vinci rightly saw it, it was the universe. The elements created minds; this is idiocy. These types of discussions promote a gag reflex so I had to stop watching.

Has anybody noticed that evolution never does the explaining. It is always people - highly qualified academics - who do the explaining FOR EVOLUTION instead. Evolution cannot even explain the three domains of life or identify LUCA - rudimentary questions in biology. And yet these academics are trying to use evolution to explain cognition. Honestly. Evolution, is the geo-centrism of our time: as utterly convincing geo-centrism seemed to people back then, we all know what happened to it. History will repeat itself in biology. There will be a revolution, and evolution will be consigned to the history books. Do you think I am another crazy commenter? Of course you do. What if I told you I can prove the origin of the genetic code? And it has nothing to do with evolution. Evolution has never had a competitor, until now.

These realizations are not designed for the sole purpose for being cute, they're higher realizations and render the worthy student further more receptive for greater understanding, that the materialists and nihilists will never ever receive. There's a reason why the Christian's acknowledge themselves as sinners, for this is recognition of what's greater and they remain humble, for the ego is likened to clouds that prevent the light from reaching the earth – it's about making oneself receptive. Praises to the gods – humble recognition, rendering oneself receptive.
Ultimately, all this revolution and evolution phenomena, not only is it without the NUMENA which nobody ever speaks of, but from what i understand is, the 'proccession is the reversion', and emotions and cognition is part of God Realization in the here and now... i acknowledge God to be the principle of Sacrifice, everything about man and this planet too, the falcrum is sacrifice, and the Great Vedic Revelation too is this Sacrifice, and just as God is sacrifice so too are we to participate, but wherever sacrifice is, what's doing it, what's the sacrificed, and the outcome, it is God ultimately, stated even in the Bhagavad Gita.
Philosophy, theology, metaphysics are just amazing, and some still believe they're 'other than' to science(which deals with the properties of theology) and physics(nature). Some believe metaphysics and nature are totally different – is like saying light is different or seperate from illumination. Makes no since.

Unless you have preconceived notions, life, humans, and consciousness are all the result of physical processes. Robert can't get any closer to the truth because he is ideologically opposed to physicalism as an explanation.

To understand, to get it, to make sense, aha moments are all emotions. I should say all by enotions. Reasons, logic are simply data. They need to be evaluated. That's where emotions come in.
We experience to gather data. We juxtapose our emotions on them as we collect them in memory. We correlate and extrapolate to guess outcomes to use. If it is so it is so until it ain't so. Nothing that complicated. Does it work? We've survived, haven't we? So have other living yhings, though 99% of them were extinct.
But in science, we try to be objective rather than subjective and abstract. We standardize the values, mesirements, methods to minimize our human subjective errors and biases. We've built tall buildings, long bridges, fly over waters, sent men to the moon, proves to Mars, asteroids, etc. not that bad.

The confusion stems from "the magic of apparent design", it's all a bit complicated, but "design/planning/intention is a narrative account of higher order cognition, and the universe is an adaptive, dynamic, complex system, not some dumb chemical LUT. The brain doesn’t create it, but perhaps reveals or tunes into it. Thus, evolution shows us the structure of the mind, but the light of consciousness remains one of the great mysteries... And perhaps that’s what gives existence its true depth!
