I was pleased to discover your videos because I'll be 86 in a few weeks; but you greatly disappointed me. I looked at all videos on your channel and you never mentioned nutrition even though Alzheimer's is a Metabolic condition which in the 21st century is best treated with a low sugar/low carbohydrate diet. Also, you never mentioned the microbiome, so important when treating Alzheimer's, now also known as diabetes type 3.
I fully agree with you regarding meds to avoid but please don't lose sight of the fact that Alzheimer's is both avoidable and curable.
Best regards, David

At 60, I’ve been on a mood stabilizer for 10+ years called Lamotrigine. It has a very subtle but useful effect on me. I am wondering if you have an opinion on whether continuing this will increase my risk for dementia. Thank you.

I am 77 and worry about dementia. My maternal grandfather died of Alzheimer’s. Both grandmothers died ay age 96 with dementia. My mother passed at 87 from ALS and was showing signs of dementia. I am starting to lose my words and occasionally miss an appointment. Something I would never have done years ago. What can I do to reverse this?

I am a bit baffled about dr Leslie's talk health conscious proactive people know about side effects, or they will after experiencing them. Leslie mention there are other "things", you can do, to help sleep, anxiety, depression, etc. Without being specific, but everything from pharmacy, is dangerous?? She proberbly never experienced the issues she is talking about. Very often you may have to weigh things up, eg. 5 years of quality of life, as opposed to no medication and 10 years of suffering. CBT, DBT, etc. may work for healty people, experiencing stress, but they demand brain power, a truly depressed, anxious, ADD, etc. person do not possess. And Leslie's scarcampaing, is very unhelpfully, unless she had some science based non pharmaceutical or natural alternatives, I wonder how Leslie can function as a medical doctor, and what she can actually prescribe???

When I was put on a statin at age 51, I soon started having severe memory problems. I was forgetting everyday words and having trouble communicating. One day I was driving and my passenger told me I was on the left-hand side of the road. I didn't even know it! I realized it was the drug and stopped taking it. It took a couple of months to return to normal. I then tried a different statin, and I started tripping and falling when I never had before. Went off it and returned to normal. I tried one more and it messed with my muscles. I refused to ever again take another statin.

After being prescribed clonazapam for 15 years, I was still waking up at 2:00 a.m. unable to sleep again that night. I began tripping and falling, had serious dizziness problems, along with double vision. My PCP would get that glazed look in his eyes, and among other possibilities he always wrote anxiety on my chart. I saw a neurologist who pretty much did the same. After doing much research I came to the conclusion that since I had been taking omeprazole for over 17 years, I was unable to process vitamin B12, and magnesium. After begging many doctors to check I took it upon myself to take both. Magnesium glycinate is a game changer, for the first time in my life I sleep like a baby, I no longer trip and fall, and my double vision happens very rarely. I am 81 years old, and I believe you have to take control of your own health...

Great, you're going to prescribe other longer lasting brain impacting dope instead of a shorter acting med that's out of your system sooner. If you're taking a benzo for sleep only, it doesn't affect your brain during the day. The shortest acting one is out of your system faster. Prozac, etc., are in your system longer and can be just as difficult to get off of.

I suffer hotflashes and insomnia. Weed edibles are the thing that help both these problems and give me a perfect sleep. I wonder if there are some contraindications for my new habit. Cod liver oil capsules keep my eyes from being too dry.

Dr. Kernison. I salute you as a colleague in the profession medicine for daring to speak out . For years I have been a voice in the wilderness of the poly pharmacy driven by the dollar . Especially precisely what you are high lighting here
I am dismayed by the symptomatic treatment of symptoms. To compound this over 40 % of consultations for all ages are iatrogenic .
Understandably this has caused a backlash in many patients admittedly somewhat hysterical in a small minority driving them to seek alternative medics and medicine . This in itself is unregulated and often hazardous or utterly useless.
Perspective for verifiable information has been inundated by rendering pharmacists virtually impotent by ridiculous regulations.
I am very impressed very admiring of your outstanding deductive logic and factual delivery.
The current conspiracy is to suppress evidence of the billion dollar industry of overdosing statins and its effect on cognition especially on geriatrics .
I am also appalled how dosages generally are NOT adjusted for geriatrics , body weight, etc . .
Horses for courses I say but looks like the mules are in charge.
