My cat is hyperthyroid and is skinny. How much should I feed her?

i had a cat that got his urine tube blocked twice the vet told me to feed him special dry food to stop it happend again then i was reading online cats a lot of cats dont drink much so i started feeding him wet food and he never had the problem again and yes stopped with the special food just gave him a lot of wet food and fresh meat he was 8 when he got the problems and lived to 15 i think (he run away at 15)

Ima be a bit controversial and say a mix of dry and wet is best, cause wet only makes their poop wet and super stinky and they piss triple the amount... Hey maybe that's best for them but I believe in a middle ground, a good quality dry food isn't as bad as people say. And the saying "worst wet is better than best dry" simply isn't true. Try stuff, see what your cat likes, make sure you know what's in their food

I have 3 cats. The female will eat 2-3 cans of wet food per day while each male can eat a minimum of 6 cans!! How can i feed only wet food without going bankrupt?

I watched a chipmuck eat berries , seeds and grain all day, then I watched my cat eat that chipmunk, berries, seeds and grains all in one meal. Sam, when he was here, got a wide variety of grain and seed eater prey.

I use Fancy Feast and Meow Mix wet food for my kitten, but I also try to give her regular meat and fish now and then so she's getting the real thing.

The only thing I would add on is if you’re feeding your cat a wet food diet please make sure it does NOT have Carrageenan in it. It’s cancer causing. I personally feed my cat kitten formula Fancy Feast right now because she’s only 6.5 weeks old.

I just had my 6 week old kitten crawl up my arm and scream at me for my hotdog. Safe to say, I believe she thinks I’m starving her. 🙄😂

Although, it was a beef hotdog so I can’t blame her.

What about raw for cat?

I was looking after a 4 month old cat.

I fed her a mix of kitten food and dry food with abit of water mixed in.

I also bought a bunch of skinless bones chicken thighs and boiled them with a pinch of salt. Then cut them up and mixed it in one meal a day with the wet and dry food mixture.

She loved it.

My sister suggested that I always have cat grass available for my cat - I live in an apartment. I tried something new when I noticed my cat adores the grass but is not really able to bit some. I cut a little bunch of grass and then cut it in tiny pieces over his wet food. He adores it and asks for it when I forget. Last week I did not have any grass, and he had an issue with hairballs, so I will try to always mix some fresh grass to his food

What about grain-free kibble that's soaked in water? I've been feeding my cat this way with Fussy Cat grain free cat kibble since I got him off the street a year ago, and he seems fine.

my cat refuses wet food unless it those puree treats :< he will literally lick the wet food for the broth and leave all of the meat :< he doesnt eat them blended up either :< what do i do :<

I understand that cats need wet food; would it be possible to use dry food and wet it with water, or some other liquid like bone broth, perhaps. Could a cat-food company produce a dry food that was specifically designed to be mixed with liquid, and perhaps be just as good as wet food ?

What about large breeds like rag dolls and Maine coons?

My can of kitten food says it recommends feeding one can per 3 pounds of body weight, a can being around 100kcal. My kitten is 1.8 pounds so you should think I'd feed her around 60kcal a day, but you mentioned a kitten requires 60kcal per pound of body weight, which would suggest she needs around 108kcal per day. I'm very confused.

I do 2 feeds a day. Both meals are 1/8th cup dry food, 1/4 cup of water, with half a serving of wet Sheba. Both of my cats polish their bowls off every feed. I found that adding water to their dry food helps a lot for cats that don’t stay hydrated.

I have an orange cat too named Simba. He is my first cat and he is a therapy cat. He is very fat. It's my fault cause I never knew anything about feeding cats. Thought milk was what kittens eat until I was told no milk at all. Anyway, you don't mind giving helpful advice and you said ask so here goes. Lol please help me understand what you just said lol I need to figure this out quick so I'm able to better care and feed my cat. This is not funny by no means that's why I'm reaching out. I would feel bad if I left my kitty without some food to eat on her own. My vet recommended staying away from wet food cause my cat was borderline a bit overweight. She is actually pretty good about drinking her water which is good and uncommon for most cats! This video just confirms to me that keeping food out all the time and changing water twice daily seems to work. Also cleaning the litter box every day! I don’t know who can leave their kitty with no food going to work? It’s worked for me many years!

My Russian Blues (bro/sis) are always hungry, and I feed them wet & dry food 😋😍 My priority is No Corn/Wheat/Soy/By-Products, etc, and they Never have dry food sitting around. At 1 1/2 years old now, they're both about 10.5#. I stopped the 3 AM zoomies by giving them a nice big snack just before bedtime~ a shameless bribe, but it works! 😳🤭😂 Always be sure your male cats drink lots of water by using a fountain~ I had a male cat who got UTIs & crystals and it's very serious. I would mix extra RO/DI (***) water in and he never had the problem again😊👍 (***) Reverse Osmosis / De-Ionized water I use for my aquariums. Or zero-water or distilled water work, too. Animals contain carbs just like any biological being contains carbs stored in their bodies. So cats need ti be able to metabolize carbs by common sense. I assume what you mean is that dry foods contain more carbs than they should compared to typical cat prey.

Hi . I have a few questions i feed my cat since 5 months cooked ground beef and sometimes ground Turkey.. is 85% leans beef and 15% fat ok for him i mix his meat with know Better premix supplements . My question is that the beef is very greasy is that ok. The ground Turkey is 85% lean and fat 15%. If its too fat can I buy 93% lean and 7% fat. Please help. Not sure if the fat is too much

that orange cat i swear looks and is built just like my cat Bubba, and you said flush out urinary tract right as he started eating. mine has had to go to vet twice since october not being able to pee, they put a tube in him flush him out, then i had a $3000 surgery to remove a tube and replace with a larger tube and a straighter flow out/ drained my bank account too. but he seems to be doing good. so yes every chance you get have them around inviting water and moister in food.
