My grandma and I love watching this show.
ОтветитьHappy 50th Anniversary Masterpiece
ОтветитьHappy 50th Anniversary Masterpiece!
ОтветитьJust about every single one of these was about what I would have rated, but two - Downton might easily have been replaced by the original All Creatures Great And Small, and I personally prefer the Miss Marple series staring Joan Hickson, in opposition to Agatha Christie's Marple, both reasonings on purely personal grounds. However, I intend to watch just about all of these, because great minds generally think alike
ОтветитьHey...... I wanna apologize for being kind of rude in that imagination video you did. I didn’t mean to be so mean and picky I was just kind of said that one of my favorite shows from PBS kids were on it but to make it up to you would you like to have a shout out?
ОтветитьPerfectly selected and ranked- bravo:)
ОтветитьGreat Series. And Diana Rigg was really good (and Lovely) in Bleak House. Best Wishes to everyone. Sincerely, Tom
ОтветитьPride And Prejudice, Downton Abbey, and Poldark are my favs. Have not seen Upstairs Downstairs in its entirety. Can't wait!
British mysteries' lead characters are mostly boring as hell. But British Dramas (Romantic or not) are the best.
Really like your countdown. Wish you'd had time to mention Masterpiece's Pride and Prejudice with Fay Weldon's super scriptwriting (1982). The one you showed was 1995, made long after Colin Firth impressed us in Priestley's Lost Empires. Cheers.
ОтветитьI used to love watching this show on PBS in the early 90s when I stayed home from School
ОтветитьI love pbs
Ответить"Rilley Ace of Spies" not even mentioned?
ОтветитьThe new Poldark should be number 1!!!🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьI love the Jewel in the Crown ❤
ОтветитьVictoria deserves a real spot on your list…not just an honorable mention.👑
ОтветитьOne of my first memories of Masterpiece was War and Peace with Anthony Hopkins. Great!
ОтветитьMy list of the top ten on Masterpiece Theatre for what it's worth: 1. Elizabeth R 2. I, Claudius 3. 1975 Poldark 4. Upstairs/Downstairs 5. Pride & Prejudice (even though it did not originally air in America on Masterpiece) 6. The Golden Bowl 7. Forsyte Saga 2002 8. first season of Downtown Abbey 9. Lillie (Langtree) 10. Duchess of Duke Street 10.
Ответить#1 Upstairs, Downstairs (1960/70s)s.#2 Duchess of Duke Street #3 To Serve Them All My Days, #4 Edward & Mrs SImpson, #5 Downton Abbey, #6 Anna Karenina(1970s), #7 Lillie, #8 Testament of Youth (1970s) #9 Jewel in the Crown #10 Forsythe Saga (1960s)
ОтветитьWell sir I have fallen for you and all your characters
ОтветитьReilly ace of spies
ОтветитьOriginal Poldark
ОтветитьYou missed all the great novels adapted for the BBC--Tom Brown's School Days, Cousin Bette, The Golden Bowl--I love Morse, Poirot, Tennison and Holmes, but I learned about literature through all the great novels
ОтветитьIf Matthew, (Dan Stevens), hadn’t left after three seasons, Downton Abbey would be #1.
ОтветитьSir, What is the name of the movie where the man pretends he has drown to be with his mistress? Wife finds out later that he is alive. Later the table turns when his mistress and baby drown. They are buried in the same coffin.
ОтветитьFrom what I understand a lot of the PBS stations were “Educational” stations. Since they couldn’t just show TV shows for entertainment, they decided to have a host at the beginning of the shows explaining (educating) what the show was about.
ОтветитьThank you! Great list of favorites.
ОтветитьVery British Coup
Sleepers
Piece of Cake
Thank you for the list. I am glad to say that I have seen most, if not all of these shows. I agree with Jeeves and Wooster being number one. It's just such a quintessential Masterpiece Theater show ful of genius good acting and great writing.
