This knot takes a while to master but once you know it, you will remember it. How can this serve you best? What if your rope breaks and you need to patch it? What if you need a Prusik?
Don't take it for granted. It might seem safe and unnecessary out there but guess what, it happened to me more than I can count (to need these skills or to aid tourists that I med on my way climbing).
