I think a language is not more than a way of communication.the whole purpose of a language is that it allows people to communicate to each other,see if an person cannot speak kannada but can speak English and you can also Speak English then just talk in english and are we really that jobless to fight to person on language ? see people should try to learn the native language but if you know a language which you both know then speak in that language. no need to enforce a particular language on the other person.

I know and understand Hindi and English but what about those people who don't. I feel like atleast there should be people who know and understand language of that specific place to help such people. Its sad if you can't even speak your mother tounge in your own state. Otherwise I don't care.

Language is for communication not for oppressing people. If someone knows hindi, even little and the other doesn't know, try to speak it, same goes for every otr language whether its kannada, Marathi, telegu . Just find a common language which you both speak, even though you speak/know very little. We,as a diverse nation should not fight on language. And neither should we force people to apeak one particular language.
