It finally occurs to me on rewatch that since Zuri was there in N'jobu's life, he was there to help raise Erik in his early years. I completely missed that he called Zuri "Uncle James".

Imagine how different Erik could be raised alongside his cousins. Perhaps he could have been raised to understand what had to go down that day.
