never try to make a movie out of a internet meme especially one that has very little back story. hopefully the FNAF movie will fair better

Internet meme, the only rule is it has to be obnoxious and give the people that cooked it up an opportunity to torment others while acting superior.

Slenderman is a modernisation of the Tall Man myth, that spans back centuries, about the Tall Man in the Woods that will snap children away if they stray too far. A myth that has morphed into many shapes over the years, among others the alien conspiracy favourite Thin Man in a Suit, popularised in the 60's and 70's, about an alien on Earth following people around, looking almost human, but not quite.
That one they made a film series about, don't know if you've heard it... Men In Black. A film series that predates the Slenderman myth by about a decade and a half, and still has "Slenderman" in it somehow (tall figure, almost human but not quite, face distorted, sprouting tendrils).

But yeah, if your research stops at CopyPasta, where the Slenderman story began, then it is definitely, 100% a modern myth with no roots in anything else. 100% original.

Was there another slenderman film, the tall man? Was that any good?

feels like a knockoff dr who movie focused on the "silence" as they look like a bad knockoff of the dr who villain. i tried watching slender but ended up playing Stalker as i wanted to do something that actually had talent or plot and was actually scary.

Who in their right mind thought this movie was a good idea. And it's my understanding by the time this slander man movie came out most people moved on from the phenomenon

As a fan of Creepypasta, I've researched enough information and found out the film ignored the lore, the possible backstory and every useful source material the web had on SlenderMan but the film ignored all of it and...LORD THIS MOVIE SUCKED!!!

Criminal waste of Annalise Basso in this film, even I thought it was sub par, & I'm pretty lenient with films!!

I love the doom music at the end.

Yeah i remember when i went to a cemetary with my teachers, all middle-school did it; it's perfectly normal XP Same for watching porn with my classmates, i did it every weekend! Geez the producers never knew what teenagers do and like? Apparently not!


If i'm correct, in the video game, the way Slendy got you is in the woods. if you don't collect the drawings, he'll kill you! That was simple and easy to understand. Making things more '' complex '' by adding stuff to summon him was useless and really dumb. It didn't make the story better either!

So... Slendy can turn teenagers into trees now? Yeah that makes sense! It's not like he NEVER HAD this power in the original game. Guess he hates humans cause they chop off and burn forests. The monster is only trying to protect nature, how nice of him :D

It could been amazing.
But this film is boring.
Slender man is the most interesting creatures of creepypasta that not Jeff the killer.

But this film is trash.

When I was in high school, the Slenderman was at the height of its popularity, so for an English project me and some friends decided to make a short Slenderman film. It was silly and very poorly made (as high school films usually are), but at least I am proud to say it was more interesting than anything this big studio movie had to offer

Fun fact: Slender-Man(2018) was originally distributed by Netflix, but they were too embarrassed from the final product, so Sony was able to get the rights after the constant rewrites, and reshoots. Ironic, because Netflix approved of Cuties; a movie that should stay controversial, and it was removed from the platform 4 years too late.

Overall, Slender-Man(2018) is just The Ring(both the 1998 original, and 2002 American remake) but worse. If Slender-Man garners a rebirth in popularity thanks to analog horror and internet nostalgia, someone on the internet or even Mike Flanagan would make an adaption of the character that's outright better than this movie altogether.
