Watching this to see why it isn’t being watched, this is an old style of video. Fast videos are in! Long slow vids are out! Had to fast forward to get to the answer

Before I even watched this whole video, I can see the idea being useful in that it allows for an immediate High Vom Tag Stance, followed by immediate downward strike.

surprised fighting not mentioned:)) growing up with all ninja movies of the time around in 80x sword at the back seemed normal thing, but much later B. Cornwell writes about fighting in a shield wall and pulling sword from the back in one movement as hitting - make sense too, with short sword its easy and i tried that - it can be done - pull & hit with one hand while holding shield with the other, in a crowd. Cornwell never elaborated (as far as i know) whether he based it on historical facts, but seems plausible.

what's stopping someone from having two sheathes--one on their back that they use while adventuring and another for their hip that they'd use while in populated areas?

Asking ppl to support your hobby so much that you don’t even have to work a job, you just get to do your hobby all day fucking around is wild to me. Like I gotta work all day and then some wanker asks me to give him some money so he doesn’t have to work…. You think I make so much money I can just give some to you so you can keep doing your hobby instead of getting a job..? Like the channel man but I like lots of channels doesn’t mean I want to work extra hours so you don’t have to at all 😂

I think if this design was made professionally into a nice leather scabbard, it would look really freaking cool. It would look kinda similar in shape to a large rifle scabbard with a wide base that tapers at the end. I would consider this myth BUSTED.

It looked like the couple times the sword didn't line up properly was due to the Scabbard getting just a little slack when you would reach back, it wasn't much, I was curious if would it be viable technique when sheathing the sword , purposely pressing it on the (Guide plate? ) Then once there do the side motion to sheath the sword the rest of the way.. Or maybe have different variations of your design depending on how the wearer prefers to Draw and Sheath his sword. Just of the top of my head, if I wanted to press the sword on the guide before guiding it into the sheath, maybe make the guide a little wider to mitigate any risk of missing the guide completely and hitting yourself with the sword. Anyway awesome video, cool design on the Scabbard, and you gotta admit if there is points for style it just looks cooler drawing the sword from your back.

You dont need to put it back on the spot if you use it for battle, use until its time for secondary weapon, pick up later when/if you survive.

If they ask you to surrender your sword in a tavern, just unbuckle that belt and surrender it WITH the scabbard.

If you were 'out in the woods adventuring' and the sword would be on your back, where would you keep your supplies? Would you attach that heavy backpack to your belt? ...

What if you placed some magnets under the surface of the wood (so they don't contact the blade directly), just outside of the groove. Then the blade would be pulled into a preplacement position before it's slid into the scabbard. Love this design overall! I want one now😁. Will these blades even stick to magnets?😬

You're about 40 years behind. In Conan the Barbarian orgy scene. You can see him sneaking around with the sword on his back than when he is ready to fight (you can hear the velcro rip) he puts it to his side. When I saw this in the a 80s that how I did in D&D.

In use for self defense the sword is better on the side. To carry a big 2 hand war sword to a battlefield it coult be easyer on the bag, with a small on the side. Maybe..... On the back it looks way cooler

why none of these geniuses simply realize you only have to draw reaching with your oposite arm... hmpfff.... you need no modifications. Why expose so much and even block your field of view for an instant? there's no way around it. YOu could carry i t like a rifle with a strap in one shoulder and unsheat discarding the scabbard...

I realize this comment might be a bit out there seeing as this video was made 6 years ago, but wouldn't a sheath with a flap along one of the sides lined with magnets do the same thing? using elastics would pull the flap closed and the magnets would hold the flap closed. the sword would obviously push against the flap to open and then to sheath the sword, there could be a string or cord of some sort to open the flap. it would most likely take some time to practice sheathing the sword, but i believe this solution could be plausible
