Jefferson’s residency program in obstetrics and gynecology prepares graduates for the full depth and breadth of general practice and for fellowship training in the subspecialties. We accept seven residents per year. Approximately 60% of residents completing the program enter private practice; approximately 40% choose to enter academic medicine.

The program is based at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, one of Philadelphia's premier academic medical centers, and is a tertiary referral center for high risk obstetrics. This unit, which does approximately 3,000 deliveries per year, has state of the art critical care beds for maternal transport, a large antepartum unit, and Level III NICU.

All major subspecialties, including Gynecologic Oncology,Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Family Planning, Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine (fellowship program) and Urogynecology are represented in the department. There is strong emphasis on research and academic activities for our residents.
