firefox just doesn't want me; every time I switch to it its filled with annoyances.

It breaks all my extensions
randomly fully resets
starts selling data just like google
deletes extensions from the store
has many, many constant popups
deletes about:config settings
fully changes the UI constantly

the UI re-design churn just pushed people away.
the legacy extension support being discontinued pushed people away + it pushed people away who had extensions that reverted the UI.
The dev tools pushed people away. It took a year and a half to fix preview in the network tab - 6 months of that was convincing the ass hat dev who removed it, that it wasn't duplicate functionality. Oh and by the time that fix landed my choices where use fixed browser with no legacy extensions or use LTS fork with legacy extensions but broken network tools.
in 2017 my good will ended and I just swapped to Chrome. Which was a good thing because a few years later they completely replaced the dev tools with tooling that wasn't even half as good.

Well on Apple devices you also have Safari as an option. Yes its WebKit engine also has its downsides, but i never encountered any website that was outright broken with Safari (unlike Firefox). Thanks to iOS the market share of Safari is still large enough to encourage web designers to optimize for it. Firefox is slowly but steadily losing this threshold since it could never conquer the mobile market.

Overall i try to avoid chromium, and not just because of Anti-Google idealism but also because i just don't like most GUIs of chromium browsers. Chromium GUIs are usually copy & paste anyway and tend to be made with Windows GUI in mind only (maximized window with taskbar at the bottom -> browser tab bars at the top). And this is just inefficient on any other desktop GUI because the top bar of a window dosen't have to be the top of your screen. If you use a desktop like this, having a forced tab bar at the top only leads to more distance you have to cover with your cursor - every single time.

Thats why on Apple devices i stick with Safari and on Linux i use Firefox because of its superior customization compared to chromium browsers.
I completely removed Chromium browsers and Windows from my digital life. Once you experienced how inefficient those GUIs actually are, it's just hard to go back.

Yeah let‘s revisit this video when chromium completely blocks the ad blockers and you get served all the ads, trackers and malware again like it‘s 2006. Anyone who values their privacy at least a little bit should use firefox, or something non-chromium.
I don‘t have problems with firefox. And if a website doesn‘t work on it because they can‘t fix their website, then it isn‘t worth visiting. I can get the info elsewhere.
I can understand that as a content creator things like the bars on screenshots or missing HDR support suck, but for the rest of us, or at least me, I didn‘t even know that because I never needd ths features. What I need is a browser that doesn’t send all of my data to advertisers.

Firefox is soon to get many more followers with chrome killing adblockers very soon. Its taking a bit for me to get used to stuff chrome did well like translation of pages. Firefox has this now but its pretty bad. For example every time you refresh the page Firefox will interpret the text as a different word then the first time. Also not being able to hit back, and see the info i had saved in a form sucks. Cant tell how many times i was writing something and accidentally closed the tab or refreshed rhe page but chrome was able to get it all back.

Idk if it's just me getting a new PC or if Mozilla put effort into fixing stuff on Firefox, but I've only been using Firefox for 3 months now instead of constantly switching between chromium (brave specifically) and hardened Firefox. The issues related to slow downs or bugged sites are completely gone and I've been having a chrome-like experience, but now chrome is bugged for me through. I've had issues related sites not loading properly or it giving me a plain white page when I visit websites (even if its just stock chrome). Quite weird, but I won't complain since I always liked the Firefox sync more

I also use Firefox as my default browser most of the time and only install Chrome if something is buggy, and after the bugs are fixed, I uninstall Chrome and switch back to Firefox. In the last year I think I've only encountered one tiny problem (also only with a website I sometimes had to visit for work) using Firefox, but it was fixed very quickly, so I definitely recommend this browser instead of ‘Google’.

Besides the minor misbehaviours, Firefox is a memory hog with severe optimisation issues. You can start adding extensions to work around this, but they really need to have it optimised out of the box.
I don’t see why anyone would go to chrome any more though, especially if you have privacy concerns. It’s like feeding your data to the wolves. The best experience so far came from brave. But like you I’m also trying to make Firefox work.

Been using FF since 2008 or something like that. I've had a hiatus of ~1 year trying Chrome in 2012 or so but the performance impact, privacy concerns and (to me) worse UI had me feeling homesick pretty quickly. FF is one of those rare examples of computer programs that were always around and haven't faulted me yet. Whether it's Linux, Windows or Mac, FF was (pretty much) always there by my side. Steam is another example on that very short list.

I use text-to-speech on Edge, but for everything else, I prefer Firefox. The picture-in-picture feature is significantly better in Firefox. Unfortunately, the future doesn't seem promising for the Firefox engine; they are likely to switch to Chromium at some point.
