Are all of them owned by China or just 3 of them ?
ОтветитьGood. I am a londoner and I love these unique designs and the agreement must stay in place. Dont give in to the developers, they make billions anyways.
ОтветитьSuper interesting vid, thanks!
Ответитьlooks like north korea
ОтветитьI love St. Paul's its very magnificent and a joy to see in the distance but we need to be a bit more flexible so we can dominate the skyline in the world!! I would much rather have the first gherkin building than the actual gherkin. It's unique but i prefer big majestic buildings alongside big majestic St Paul's. 👍
ОтветитьThe Shard isn’t a nic name - that’s what it’s called! Fact check 🤷♂️
ОтветитьDid you know the the first steel re-enforced concrete and glass building was erected in Swansea, south Wales by a company called Weaver? It was the pre-cursor of all skyscrapers. Unfortunately it was pulled down a few decades ago but a blue plaque is there to mark the site. Many construction companies from all over the world came to see it when it was first built. Pity that no one in the UK itself took advantage of the innovation.
ОтветитьIs it something to do with Global Elites?
Ответитьnew skyscrapers look horrible I hate modern houses and buildings
ОтветитьTo take your eye away from the rest of the bog hole. Can you believe they even charge you to drive there now. Imagine paying to get your money stolen and meet the mentally unwell... But enough about Westminster.
ОтветитьThey even have weird name
(Exception from the shard)
They even have weird names
(Exception of the shard)
If you like British oddly shaped and nicknamed skyscrapers: here in Leeds, the UK's third biggest city, we have one we call "The Dalek", you can imagine what that looks like 😅
ОтветитьAh yeah 30 St Mary Axe (Gherkin) has really good wind tunnels not creating wind at ground level but try passing 20 Fenchurch street or as I call it the mushroom on fenchurch street on a windy day without getting into what feels like a Tsunami. This windy ground trend got so much more common, most of the newly built skyacrapers on city road also drive all the wind down to ground in very windy days I decide not to even go close to it woth a cycle as gusts could easily push you pff the bike.
ОтветитьThe concrete Jungle of London, where I live, Sucks. It's cold (feeling as well as actual temp) and almost soviet in places for long stretches. Not what it is cracked up to be.
ОтветитьIt's always windy around the Gherkin though. Not sure the plan worked
ОтветитьI love how it makes designers think outside the box
It makes the sky like unique
My thoughts? Continue to protect sight limes to St Paul’s, but not to the Tower which is a relatively low structure that’s best seen up close anyway.
ОтветитьIts mighty simple, rectangle buildings need extra rain protection on roof and draining
Funky shapes elliviates need for strong roofing or rain drainage
i loved the gherkin when it was clearly visible, it added real character to the skyline. But now it's surrounded by ego sized glass box skyscrapers so you can barely see it anymore - and render that cool idea about letting the wind flow around it, little chance of that helping now.
ОтветитьI think that the housing in England is in Great British Pounds £££'s and not $$$ United States Dollars like demonstrated in this otherwise excellent video. The view from King Henry's mound is very impressive as it literally cuts through a gateway of parting trees to see the St. Pauls Cathedral miles away... fascinating stuff !!
ОтветитьCan’t believe there was a third chuckle brother.
ОтветитьThe total effect is an ugly visual jumble, populated with the vapid penis-substitute designs of witless clients, architects and developers, totally out of scale, without any sort of collective visual cohesion or language, and ruining any sense of streetscape. A total, unforgivable mess.
ОтветитьThe grandfather skyscraper is in the uk from the 1790s, we have a lot of industrial stuff that got knocked down and technology had a long way to go before you could build high buildings in affordable materials, but the uk did not start in the 80s thats wild
Ответитьthrough the yrs, canary wharf is starting to look like manhattan
ОтветитьThe Brits are sexually deprived and these buildings are oddly shaped phallic symbols for them to admire.
ОтветитьLondon's skyline is a mess - if there is any rhyme or reason it hasn't worked, the Shard looks like it is unfinished. Compared to other cities, few if any of the most modern buildings would get on any great architecture list for their outside appearances. Big and tall is not necessarily beautiful, but if they are going to big then they ought to be world-class.
Ответитьit would be great if this translated to the rest of the country and to private residence/ rented housing. it would be wonderful to see houses of all different colours and designs instead of the same horrible red brick...
ОтветитьProtect the rule and protect the views. They are both part of British culture. If we continue to flaunt our rules and erase history we lose parts of ourselves.
Ответитьincrease the height of st pauls, but digging underneath and lifting the foundation by 100 feet.
ОтветитьYou should have used £ instead of $
ОтветитьI've seen the Walkie-Talkie many times in this video (it's close to the Gherkin), but not a single mention.
It has the magic power (a concave reflective surface) to lit up cars and doormats around itself when the sun shines from a certain direction.
Yes, London has something to offer, the Ferris wheel, King Charles and some great high-rise buildings too, one of which looks like an egg. Diana would enjoy it. But the music plays in Frankfurt, friends. Our city, hey there's something else going on, just wait and see.
Kussy, likes London a lot. Great cosmopolitan city, my friends.
These irregular shaped buildings display wealth. The are inherently inefficient and expensive to design and build.
ОтветитьThe content is interesting and well structured but please try not to drop your voice into a croak at the end of every sentence. You’ll sound so much more authoritative.
Ответитьno idea. i wanted to find out the story behind all this🙂
ОтветитьBecause idiots were making decisions that day. England has some of the best architecture in the world , and then you have sht like this . Why ? Its like shting on the Mona Lisa. Just being new does not make it good.
ОтветитьWhy not!!
ОтветитьThe WalkieTalkie is one of the ugliest buildings in the world.
ОтветитьI hate skyscrapers destroying the natural enviroment. Thats how I dont like to be in London, and I prefer Ireland. London look like asia and too far to catch up Asia or Arabian skyscrapers. Skyscrapers are destroying the beauty of London the antique city.
ОтветитьI like the Gherkin. Most of the rest look like they are trying too hard.
ОтветитьI think the city should have been left old and the Isle of Dogs should have been made all new.
ОтветитьRegulations require significant architecture
ОтветитьIt's so unfortuante that the Egg building is barely visible these days thanks to those boring ugly square glass boxes that have been allowed to be built around it...
ОтветитьAs London becomes a muslim city nobody will care about this outdated cathedral
ОтветитьVery informative. Wish I knew this before I visited London though 😅
ОтветитьIt's one of the ugliest skylines in the world.
ОтветитьWonderful city planning in London.
ОтветитьWHELP last week i went to go visits some long time old friends w my family and we passed the skyscrapers and when we went past 'the gherkin' i never knew it was called that i used to call it 'the ball point pen' or it was either 'bullet' because obv from the shape you know why 😂😂
