Very good video, guys!
ОтветитьWe been waiting for this one. Thank You Grapplevision.👍💯
ОтветитьGreat job on this, can’t wait to see what y’all produce next!
ОтветитьI love your style of wrestling content, been a fan since the channel began! 👍🏾 excellent work!
ОтветитьSuch a sad yet humble end for a man that seemed so odd yet interesting. I’m sure he would have been someone awesome to meet on the streets. He seems like a guy a lot of people would either love or hate. Honestly I would have loved to meet him. Rest easy Antonio.
ОтветитьWrestling's Rasputin. Wrasputin.
Ответить🤼RASSLIN🤼
ОтветитьThe Great Antonio vs Antonio Inoki is one of the greatest wrestling clips ever. It has so many layers. It provokes 1,000s of questions. If this was the first and only wrestling clip you ever saw, and you researched elements of the clip, you would know basically everything there is to know about wrestling.
I just wish there was enough footage and paperwork to make an hour video about The Great Antonio. Since I first saw this clip on your channel, I've wanted to know more. He is fascinating. I often wonder how this encounter would have gone 10 years earlier.
I've not been able to find any confirmation on this BUUUUUT it wouldn't surprise me at all if...."Giant" Shohei Baba and his AJPW and Antonio Inoki actually had a bit of a bidding war for the services of The Great Antonio....as Rikidozan's top two pupils, Baba and Inoki were much like Leno and Letterman in the shadow of Johnny Carson...who would be Rikidozan's successor? Technically the JWA folded with Rikidozan's death but from that sprung both All Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling....so to wrestle and defeat an opponent of their mentor would have meant quite a bit especially at that time and in Japan. It's funny though how far ahead NJPW has overtaken AJPW....as a kid pre-internet the best way to learn is Japanese Wrestling was through the Apter mags and at that time, Late 80s/Early 90s, the two were neck and neck BUT thanks to Baba's NWA membership AJPW always seemed to slightly have the upper hand....though Inoki was without doubt the better worker and ultimately thanks in part to a longer life became the bigger star and yet NJPW has had its greatest success after Inoki sold the promotion and stepped away completely.
ОтветитьFucking hate you for making The Great Antonio video because it is really good. You humanize his story and almost got me teary eyed. Great video.
Ответитьgood work on this vid ..............RIP
ОтветитьWould I be wrong to say that in the match with Inoki, Antonio didn't intentionally do anything wrong? Was it a question of simply not knowing any better?
ОтветитьThis channel and PromoJoe are the greatest finds recently for me. Both putting out great content.
Keep it up!
Test the tiger
ОтветитьSad ending for the man, outstanding video from GrappleVision. Looking forward to more like this.
ОтветитьThis channel is the plug on this one !!! Learned some new information on that one match we all remember from very beginning to the bloody end !! 10/10 perfection!!
Ответитьnot sure you know what HD is but anywho
ОтветитьThat was so interesting. Thanks.
ОтветитьDefinitely not the same old Inoki/Great Antonio video. Brilliant job. Very in-depth.
ОтветитьDamn, this is such a good video. The artwork, the narration, excellent editing, thanks for the quality here! It's absolutely on display and I hope we get more content similar to this!
ОтветитьWhat a great piece man. Bravo my friend so glad u are back .
ОтветитьGreat Antonio is famous for this one thing.
Ответитьty so much for this video
ОтветитьThe man was born to entertain
ОтветитьI get great pleasure watching Inoki lay the slipper into his head on the mat haha
ОтветитьGreat video and thanks for the info never knew most of that
Ответитьi knew and smoked weed with this guy and never once heard him claim he was an alien!!!!
ОтветитьMontréal used to have a whole slew of interesting weirdos back when I was a kid, and "le Grand Antonio" was one of them. A fascinating, misunderstood man.
ОтветитьOh man now I can't laugh at that clip
RESPECT.
Antonio didn't die He just went back to his planet 😏
ОтветитьI'm a Canadian I wear a cape on the tenth of this month I finished carrying a pallet 50 miles to raise awareness for suicide prevention I still get trucker yelling at me to get a job....people often see me as the crazy bearded homeless guy I walked most of the 50 miles last year with no shoes because of practice walking on gravel my feet were undamaged..feel free to spread the word as it's all about raising awareness for suicide prevention
ОтветитьThis was a good video, but it still never answered my question. Which is why did the guy think it was a good idea to no-sell Antonio Inoki? All because he thought he was a big tough guy and selling for an opponent was beneath him? Who the Hell did he think he was, anyway? Well, he was wrong about that! He paid the price for his arrogance, as Inoki beat his ass for real! Nothing he didn't deserve! EDIT: The man was clearly mentally ill. May he rest in peace, though.
ОтветитьCould you have picked weirder footage to show in the Bret Hart segment?
ОтветитьA really great video. I never really knew anything about the Great Antonio beyond the Inoki match. A respectful way of ensuring these wrestling side stories are recorded and not forgotten 👏
Ответитьp̲r̲o̲m̲o̲s̲m̲ ⭐
ОтветитьWow I had no idea. He had a beautiful voice, Rip big man
ОтветитьDidn't anyone ever ask him on video why he did that to Inoki?
ОтветитьI’d like to hear GA’s side of the Inoki incident. It seems like with the language difference it’d be really easy for him to go into it thinking he was supposed to do everything he did.
ОтветитьIs this guy Alan Moores dad? Holy crap they look very similar
ОтветитьR.I.P. Inoki-Sama
ОтветитьHe was the great antonio in the late 50’s, he didn’t change his name because of lex luger in 93’ just FYI.
ОтветитьThis story really helps me understand the bizarre match with Anoki.
ОтветитьThis was nice, touching and respectful man your videos are awesome.
This one touched something(I'm from the montreal area)
There is so much sadness in his singing voice.
Ответитьdamn bro I just came for some wrestling now you got me tearing up
ОтветитьA lot of the legend is made up, especially his youth. His name was Antonije, he was Yugoslavian of Montenegrin descent. I think his last name was Barisevich. In the 70's, he used to eat at the Steakorama restaurant on Bleury north of Sainte Catherine street owned by a Yugoslavian. I saw him and on other occassions Le Géant Ferré (André the Giant) there and remembered my dad saying "Don't stare." I cant remember how much food theyd eat but i remember the whole table being full and needing to put some food and beer in the booth next to his table. At that time, you had stubby beer bottles as well as larger glass bottles (750ml-1litre) and thered often be a dozen empty big beer bottles on the "2nd" table. (Both drank a huge amount)
My high school was 2-3 blocks from the Dunkin Donuts on Beaubien & St. Michel where hed often be and where people would sent him mail.
Excellent job the animation the narration
Be proud of this!
