Overhauling an Old Story! | Concept Corner: HEARTLESS #1

This ended up being a real big video -- I hope y’all enjoyed it!
It feels like forever since the last time I worked on a speedpaint, so it was nice to get back into that familiar editing rhythm again.

It was also a ton of fun to play around with this new format! I’d definitely like to have a go at it again; so pls lemme know what y’all would like to see or hear about next time, and I’ll see what comes forth from the depths of my old sketchbooks 👀✏️

I would love to see more of doppel’s story. Will maybe they merge together? Will doppel’s double gain his own identity? What are their relationship? Is it like brothers? Disgruntled coworkers who happen to be the same person? It could also be something like DID. Idk! It’s a fun concept and would be fun seeing a funny goofy lighthearted character gain serious character development

Flint tootaally takes ice baths before and after fights ( Eira might or might not have had accidentally froze him into an ice cube once trying to help with the bath)

It's videos like this that inspire me to work on my own works, worlds and characters! Keep up the good work!

I only started to draw dark skinned characters when one of my black friends pointed out i had no black characters. I never realised it until they pointed it out and actually gave me tips for darker characters that still worked for my art style.

The ends on rivers hair kinda look like cattails? Like the plant? And I absolutely love that, her magic is like really chill and nature based and also her name is RIVER Omfg I love her so much-

At the introduction to Alchemy Valentine I freaked out because in my Pathfinder home game there is a vampire villain character named Valentine Vermilon AKA the baron. And I went "WHAT, HE DIED LAST SESSION THOUGH!?!!?" 😂😂😂

I just have vibes that heartless is aroace it might be connected because he’s undead but I just thought it’s pretty cool

Idea for Heartless and Alchemy meeting : Heartless is somehow lead to the drag-magic show where Alchemy performe but at the same moment 2 low graded villains try to capture them , Alchemy know how to escape and help Heartless so they become friends

I meant to ask if I could use the bace idea of wizards trving with different places having different views on magic

Can I use this consent for a story I’m brainstorming if I use original characters and places

Not saying it’s bad or anything but drawbacks are usually supposed to limit magic ability, like alchemy only being able to transform themselves and inanimate objects, like in MHA when they explain that if Mineta tears off too many balls he starts to bleed or that if Kami goes too far he’ll short circuit. I think it’s helpful when making superpowers to put limits just to make it a more interesting story.
Still love what you’ve done here and their drawbacks even if they’re not related to the magic lol

I just want to say thank you for basically reviving my motivation with the idea of magic being frowned upon, now i have 2 more stories and my absolute favorite oc. (And also my world building is a lot better now, since i actually had motivation to make one in the first place)

My foreign language teacher asked us to present a series we love. I am glad to say Heartless got me a 20/20.

River’s so cute she’s my favorite and we even have the same name!

what'd be cool is that Laurelai from the villain episode has the power to shatter glass with her voice, which could translate to being able to dispel illusions & interfere with/damage mirror duplicates, & in one episode she injures Glass (Doppel's mirror clone that he can't get rid of) which causes Doppel to realize that despite everything, He's come to see Glass as his brother, & he does truely care about him, and then at the end Doppel finds a way to heal/repair him, & that could be their spotlight episode.

So.. Alchemy is your version of Alex Fierro?

Maybe in Heartless’ original life he had some incredibly powerful magic, with no drawbacks. This was the time before magic was seen as a curse/danger/not to be used. Originally he would’ve used it for small things, but when he realised the extent of his power he grew greedy and had a constant hunger for more. Eventually, either one person or a group worked together to curse him, binding his magic to his heart and energy. He got so furious about this that he caused some massive catastrophe to happen, with a lot of destruction and death as aftermath, but also using so much of his power basically killed him/knocked him out for a significant amount of time. This is the event that made magic become something seen as dangerous, and is what lead to most places despising it.

As for how he came back to life, maybe someone found him and his body naturally stole their energy to bring him back, or the person could’ve willingly shared some of their magic to bring him back. Could’ve been someone who heard about ancient legends of him and knew how his magic worked, so they were able to bring him back, maybe with some intention of using him for his power.

Rewatching the heartless design series and to be honest.

I dont know if i want to date Alchemy or be Alchemy. Severe bi panic and gender envy from them and honestly, love it

I first watched this when it released 3 years ago and it inspired me to make my own oc's with there own story and to this day i hold these characters (my oc's) close to my heart. I've been working on them continuously and their story in these 3 years and hopefully one day I will actually solidify a story for them. But I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to make them in the first place it really has been a big part of my development as an artist

U said that Flint Solveig was something north inspired, me being Swedish thought I could translate. Flint is a stone and Sol means sun and veig is road, so Flint Sunroad

I love the idea of Heartless waking up confused, his body pale, broken, and malnourished from being brought back to life. Seeing him become revitalized from draining the life around him while eventually learning to control his powers.

Alchemy being feared for their ability to transform, but eventually learning to channel that power into a ability they love and cherish which in turn helps them love themselves more. It would be funny if all of this character development came from them discovering a broken, rusted pipe and wanting to use it because they see value in it

Child Flint learning to control his fiery powers and absolutely hating them due to his intolerance of heated temperature. He learns to control his fire through martial arts and/or boxing, and maybe his sun tattoo helps him channel his power / protects him from his own fire

For Eira, I could say he rejects his magic due to some trauma he got. Maybe he froze his parents when he was young and they died, hence why Eira was a “street rat.” But I also just like the idea of Eira not really liking magic.

**Doppel is my favorite**, maybe Doppel started out scared or maybe he looked down on his clone seeing them as a underling and expecting the clone to do as he said. But as they grew older they started to respect his clone and now their partners in crime.

I’m not sure about River to be honest, maybe when she was younger, she was overshadowed as a person for her abilities and what she could do without her powers. As she grows over time she proves to people she’s just as valuable as a person without her powers.
