Why does Jurgen Klinsmann still to this day, get mentioned more times as great German Centre forward (number nine) in favour of the Great Karl-Heinz Rummenigge? Karl-Heinz had an illustrious career as one of the most feared centre forwards in world football and was by far, the greatest striker in world football at his peak, winning the Balon D'or on two occasions. He won numerous trophies both in the Bundesliga and European Cup competitions, at club level and won the Europen Cup with Germany in 1980. Rummenigge as Germany's leading striker at the World, twice finished as runner-up in 1982 and 1986, which is still a great achievement. However, finishing as runner-up twice, in two consecutive World Cup's, has no doubt hindered Rummenigge's legendary status, almost forgetting him as Germany's greatest ever striker, far exceeding the striking ability of Jurgen Klinsmann and in my opinion, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is in the top five greatest strikers of all time and whilst at his peak, he won the Balon D'or on two occasions. He won numerous trophies both in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, along with winning European competitions at club level. Rummenigge won the Europen Cup with Germany in 1980. As Germany's leading striker in the World Cup, twice Germany finished as runner-up in 1982 and 1986, which is still a great achievement. However, finishing as runner-up twice, in two consecutive World Cup's has no doubt hindered Rummenigge's legendary status, almost forgetting how good he actually was as a striker, possessing all the attributes, without any weaknesses within his game. In my opinion, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was a far better player than Jurgen Klinsmann. Also in my opinion, Rummenigge is in the top five greatest strikers of all time.

In a way he was unlucky. He lost 2 World Cup finals and the European Cup final. He was great in Italy playing for Inter but that period was dominated by the best ever Juventus.
He was the best player in the late 70's and early 80's. Unstoppable and technically flawless.
