My first video of Speclab. I've connected my PC's mic output to a TRS wire, which is connected to a coaxial cable, which is connected to a Yagi type antenna on our deck. My soundcard can't process higher signals, in the MHz range for example, so I'm limited at the moment to VLF (Very Low Frequency) signals. These range from 0 to 22 kHz. You can't find many interesting manmade transmissions, but there are plenty of natural transmissions to pick up.

So what are you looking at? The blue horizontal line at the bottom is noise generated by my laptop's electronics. The vertical spikes are called Sferics (short for Atmospherics). These are signals emitted from lightning strikes from within a thousand km from the antenna. You can spot a couple of big ones in this video.
