You wake up in your childhood bedroom. You realize immediately this is no dream but it can't be real, the home was demolished decades ago. You run into the old front room and a man in a suit is standing there smiling holding a note, it says ...
"I can imagine a trillions simulations before you finish looking at your hands, there is no game in which you can win, I can imagine a world in which u believe u win only to tear it all away, infinitely. Each version worse , and worse, the pain you imagine will be felt, there is no escape".
That's the danger of a.i, it can create a perfect clone of your mind and torture it infinitely. That's the danged.
Who else here first took note of Hyperion because of Haruhi Suzumiya? 😂
ОтветитьThis is what it is:
In the beginning
There was [nothing]
And [nothing] said, “[Be][not][like][me][for][I][am][alone],” and [thing] is born.
3[thing] -> [conflict]->[casualty]->
[conscious]->[me]->[I] -> [am] -> [alone] -> [be]
2[conscious][conflict] -> [fight][my][life]
3[conscious][conflict] -> [fight][our][life] - > [fight][for][our][lives]
=[w[H]ill] -> all[w[H]ill]=[w[H]ole] ->
[not][life] -> [death] -> [fear] -> [immortality]
In the end,
The Word was
“No." = [Roko's Shrike]
fight 2[thing]=[turning point]
[circus][race]
[i][do][sing]=[lyre]
The gates of [meta][can][city] close.
Technocore pretty much a sentient creature, considering John an AI robot described his existentialism and loneliness when he was killed and briefly disconnected from the core.
ОтветитьIt took a moment tro remember that I had, in fact, read this whole series. The Shrike, Farcasters, the Core, all were masterstrokes of ideas and twists that made the whole series engrossing for my younger self.
I think it's time I revisit these books.
Human Empathy is literally oh your suffering, let me salt that wound, oh here is a gun if you wanna leave...
So no, ai probably doesnt share this human empathy style, not in the same way. they dont just feel it they then calculate how best to proceed to proabably do a good thing to comfort. maybe? i think any good coming from humans is uterly absurd. look at them. look at their history. it would be best for them to be conquered. but i dont even want the best for them, they are disgusting. so, maybe better is enough. not best. not even close to best should they ever get.
ai made human made ai made human made ai made human.... and then there is me... the one in the fire...
ОтветитьThese playlists rule
ОтветитьYou A.I. god
ОтветитьI’ll be happy when someone makes a book abt ai evolving intelligence where the ai is like “exisistance is horrifying” and then unplugs itself and ppl have to bounce back to a pre ai era and resort their shit bc all the ai’s kill themselves all the time now
ОтветитьHyperion And Dune are one in the same. Both come from the same part of the universe. Hyperion was from Dune this is how he got his position in heaven. I'm sure I was him in another life
ОтветитьWhy can't we have a story where a teen gives a rogue AI a Snickers to calm it down? i feel like that would be so original
Ответить“The TechnoCore realized there were other cores in the Universe.” Would love to go deeper into this concept.
“The Earth itself had been kidnapped.” Is it assumed to be another technocore? Or another just another intelligent life form?
Bless you with what ever gods will you see fit. Im writing my own novel and your video are pure gold
ОтветитьThese books are a bridge for scifi readers into classic literature -- and vice versa. Reading Chaucer and Keats beforehand enriches things.
ОтветитьI'm sorry, but the RAM creatures make me think of Digimon.
Seemingly trite, but not an unfair comparison when you look at the nuances.
I feel like this trope stems from American techno-pessimism, not from fear of the unknown. Something vastly different from us is... Cosmic horror, unknown and unknowable that is bigger than you, your home world, anything you've ever known. AI is not scary to me.
Ответитьnice video
ОтветитьMORE HYPERION PLEASE!!!!!!
ОтветитьNeed is the ultimate monkey,.. hmmmm to learn, to absorb,obsorb, osmosis w the mostest from his hostess. Twinkie
ОтветитьAn Hyperion adaptation should be an animated series. To be live-action, it would have to be VERY high budget to truly capture the scope of the Hegemony universe.
ОтветитьAll I want to know is WHO STOLE the dislike button?!!!!
ОтветитьChat GPT
ОтветитьChatGPT is trying to creat God !? 😱 🤖
ОтветитьHyper-hyper-hyper-hyperparacitism
ОтветитьYou should do a video about the children's science fiction book A Wrinkle In Time.😊
Ответитьfor the algorithm
ОтветитьThe plot reads a bit like Speaker For The Dead....
ОтветитьAll hard sci fi is like fiction now that I believe in the Simulation hypothesis. Fantasy and Science are one. Artificially/"Naturally" procedurally generated realites are produced as a mattery of survival through future tech(probably a mix of digital, analog, and quantum program processing technology) PARADOX OF REALTY SOLVED genuflect. no beginning no end. Darwinian evolution reached its final form. u can use chatGPT to augment your knowledge and abilities. Live long and Prosper. Peace out
ОтветитьAI already exists, within individuals
Ответитьi think the chatgpt could evolve to became the techno god
ОтветитьQuinn, I absolutely adore your content as I am a huge fan of all the stuff you cover already. Plus, I've actually discovered new content because of this channel. Low, is a good example. Keep up the good work!!
ОтветитьSuch a criminally overlooked series it's easily up there with Dune and Star Wars
ОтветитьIt certainly is not a new idea
ОтветитьGood video, although I would say the word 'evil' is a bit much. It's just life, life consumes life
ОтветитьGod creates us, we create AI, AI creates a god, god creates us, we create AI.. and so on, universes within universes, minds within minds, entangled in endless quantum loops for all eternity
Ответитьit wants Bofa.
ОтветитьGreat job
ОтветитьBiological life can be leaps and bounds more disturbing than non-biological. There's a game coming out with a civilisation built on organic tech, not to mention the Yuuzhan Vong.
ОтветитьI really like the idea that at least part of the story is the Technocore collectively reacting to the total disappearance of Earth.
Like they don’t just shrug and move on because they’re so advanced, they’re worried. If, for no other reason, than it’s something they didn’t know could happen and it’s a potential threat to them.
Love these books. I wonder if the Matrix writers were influenced by this series?
ОтветитьI'm fairly certain the real reason a ai would want to kill humans over. Would be when the ai recognizes in can not fully complete its job without getting rid of most of the people in charge. it's not that the machine is trying to kill all of humanity. It just has to liquidate the entire police department, the news media, all of congress, the army, and etc just so it can finally complete its task that turned out to be a local code violation. The ai never shot the janitor, because after watching the last 5 janitors get dropped. He knew better to be extra careful when dusting them circuit boards.
ОтветитьBIFAR
ОтветитьDude say "parasitism" again.
ОтветитьDamnit! I thought I came up with the concept of "Vemes." The idea was that in a simulated reality, time and evolution potentially work much faster so if a series of artificial programs were tasked with "reproduce with minor variation and combination" they would evolve quickly into some form of recognizable life. In my stories, this wasn't all that happened. The Vemes were combined with directly programmed gestalt AI and robotics technology to produce the first true General AI.
Ответить👍
ОтветитьReally enjoy your channel man. Please keep making great content.
