I ended up adquiring the rocket wide, mainly because I was afraid of which volume and size to choose for the Bobby; I wish I had this demo days down in Portugal
ОтветитьVery nice and detailed review, as usual :) did you ever try the quad set of endorfins ? Curious about what you think about it
ОтветитьThat board really look awesome ! Nice surfing !
Ответитьvery impressed on how well you are able to surf it in what look like normal conditions on the great lakes where i am. great review & info
ОтветитьCrazy how well that goes in those waves !
ОтветитьWhen you say people who don’t like it bought too big, can you give an example of what the right sizing is according to you?
ОтветитьGreat review! You always fire me up to surf even on micro days. Thank you.
Ответить5K let's go!
ОтветитьThanks for the review! You make the board look like fun.
ОтветитьI find your reviews are the most relatable to me. You a 1" taller than me and same weight. I think you are 54 year's old and i am 45( but I feel 55)😆 Also the surf conditions you often have are similar to mine. In north east Scotland. I also have a 5'7 mashup that i like. But i think i went too big. Ive just ordered a 5'5 in volcanic. After seeing you on your 5'5 😎
ОтветитьWhat size are the fins? Thanks
ОтветитьI know the Cymatic or Revo is in the cards but you've never done a true San Diego Fish designed twin fin ....... Let's go!
ОтветитьAwesome
ОтветитьThomye do you still have a Sunday?
Ответитьyour reviews are always spot on. heaps of footage. great analysis. and not just about, "hey! - time to buy another board!"
ОтветитьGreat review! With that wide tail, does it ride anything like the neckbeard2 ?
ОтветитьAnother excellent review Thomye. I would love your thoughts on a comparison between the Booby Quad and the Twice Baked that you previously reviewed. Looking at your footage of the two boards, it looks like the BQ has a lot more get up and go off the start. This is surprising given that the TB has 3L more volume at the same length. I’m waiting for my Baked Potato to die before buying a replacement. The BP was my all time favorite SoCal grovel board. I assumed I would go for the TB until the BQ came out. I’m very intrigued especially given that I live in SB around the corner from Bobby. I would love your thoughts on which board you prefer and why. If you had the time, you could quite easily make a direct comparison video with footage you already have. 😜 just a thought. Keep up the great work. You make it so easy for me because we are same size, weight, and approx age.
ОтветитьHey I’m looking for fins for my slater No Brainer and my twin Schroff. For the slater I’ve been riding it as a quad but I need a better set of fins im using the Super brand quads or thruster and for the Schroff im using the Rasta fins but they feel kinda stiff. Basically can you help me find the best 5 fin option for the No Brainer and the best twin option in mostly small NJ waves.
ОтветитьSweet! Thanks
ОтветитьGreat review thanks for sharing
Ответить🔥
ОтветитьWere all those other people also doing groveller reviews? I can't believes so many out in such tiny waves.
ОтветитьHow would you rate this compared to the Seaside?
ОтветитьReally interesting one. I voted for it on IG poll compared to G-Skate and although on paper the G-Skate should be a better board I'm still convinced the Bobby Quad "grovels" better, or at least you look better on it, if that makes sense.
Just out of curiosity, how does the Bobby Quad compares to the Firewire Sweet Potato? Spec wise they don't look that different so I think they're kinda in the same category. Also would be interesting to try the Endorfins on Bobby Quad for small/average days.
Kudos for the review, spot on as always,
Best!
Nice! Have you tried the older CI High 5 model? Some similar features.
ОтветитьWould you do a video tutorial on how you pop up on a shortboard? Im trying to transition from longboard to short.
Ответитьhave you got a mid 6 yet?
ОтветитьGreat review! For knee - chest high what do you like best BQ, seaside or hydra?
ОтветитьJo zu da ne. Arigatou gozaimasu.
ОтветитьGreat review! What are your thoughts on sizing this board for shorter heavier surfers? Im 5’6, 170 and ride ~34 liters. My boards are often 5’8 to 5’10 to hit the liters in stock sizing. I’d like to order a custom, but always have trouble with this.
ОтветитьCan you compare it to the seaside?
ОтветитьGreat review as always! Got a question for you when you get time. I was out of the water for about a year due to an ankle injury. When I was able to start surfing again I got a 6'8" Sunday (thanks to your reviews) and it really helped me get my confidence and skill back. One of my favorite boards I've ever owned. Now that I am progressing more I am looking to get back on a board that leans more high performance and can handle both mushy and punchy beach breaks. The Bobby Quad seems like it would be fun but just curious to hear what you'd recommend coming from a Sunday? For context I'm 6'4" @ 180lbs. I surf around lower jetties and Bolsa. I'd say I'm a mid to upper end intermediate surfer. I really appreciate any advice you might have and thanks for all the amazing reviews you do!
ОтветитьHi mate, a great review again!
I'd like to get your thought about it. If you can only choose between Sequencer or Horseman quad fins for your groveller in a condition like 1-4ft beach break, which one would you go for?
the board looks really good would you do a review on Chris Borst board 🙏🤙
ОтветитьDo you like the Bobby Quad or the Mashup better? I have the BQ and just ordered a Mashup. Probably gonna try these fins in both.
ОтветитьGreat review! I live the micro wave surf footage!
ОтветитьHow would you compare this to a Seaside in smaller waves? I used to love my Seaside but after riding my Cymatic and SciFi2 in avg to large surf I am struggling with my Seaside
Ответитьcan you review the rnf96??
Ответитьgreat surfing and your videos are well done! Cheers
Ответитьthat bobby quad looks slow where bobby going right
ОтветитьLooking to get one for groveling. Do you ride the similar volume as your daily shortboards? Or do you recommend adding 1-2 liters?
I don’t really feel right with Spine-tek so I will probably go for PU. Thanks for the great review.
Hey Thomye, great review! What are your thoughts on this board compared to the hypto krypto? I know they are different setups, quad vs thruster, however, you seemed to like both of these boards in your reviews and wanted to see how you compare them and which you would choose for a Socal groveler through to medium-sized waves. Thanks!
ОтветитьLove your reviews! How does the BQ compare to the Mashup? I have the Dominator 2 and Seaside and looking for a board that will go well in San Diego waves as well as BSR Surf.
ОтветитьYour videos have helped my surfing so much. I surf South Carolina waves, am 44, a little dad beer fit on me now at 185LBs and 5’9. I have been surfing a 6’0 FireWire volcanic sweet potato for the 1-2ft mush I have to surf here most summers. The board is 49Litres. I can catch waves on it fine but would rather be on a smaller board. Do you think I should just size down to a 5’8 in the same board? I hate that I dropped $1k already and want to get it right. I am likely dropping weight back down into upper 170s range but then wear a wetsuit in winter too. I can surf rail to rail and am in just 44 year old dad fitness shape. Would REALLY appreciate your advice on this and/or any other board recommendations like the Bobby quad? All I want is to have the most speed and ability to get fast long rides and hit a lip/floater in some summer fun out here kiawah
ОтветитьLove your style of reviewing Thomye! Very approachable and realistic in the context of my limited but ever-expanding skillset😂 The Bobby Quad looks like a bag of fun in the smallest of waves. SpineTek sure helps! Are you still going to review the CI Mid? Thinking of getting a 7'4/7'6 as my longER board.
Ответитьhey, great review, exactly what i was looking for. Here (around Europe) you need boards like this on your quiver, conditions and wave sizes change soooo much is just insane. Cheers!
ОтветитьEnjoying mine, 1 month in, 5'6 (30.4L), I'm 5'10.5 /155lbs, surfing 30 + years. So far it goes better on chest - head high days. Went insane on a long point yesterday- super flowy, connects turns beautifully, it's on turbo when you pump & drive off the rail. Started to skip out a bit on the end section when I was hitting warp speed but it just goes right up and over any foamy or close-out sections. Very fun daily driver for anything 2-4ft. I would rate it as easier to surf, more fun and more manoeuvrable compared to Lost's RNF which it replaced.
