Kill the bug with a giant freaking laser that's how you do it Blue Monkey that's a good name for a bug movie
ОтветитьJohn Vernon has played characters who don't always look annoyed, but it was kind of his default look.
ОтветитьI feel like for a time Canadian movies were required to hire a sctv member if they wanted the budget approved.
ОтветитьMentors!!!
ОтветитьTed looks a lot like paul dana
ОтветитьThe alcohol twist reminds me of Grabbers. The film set on a remote irish isle and the protagonist is an sober alcoholic, but the monster hates alcohol so he has to get everyone into the local pub for a piss up so that it won't eat anyone else.
ОтветитьStev Railsvack is a great example of the "intense" acting style of the sixties-eighties Others include Bruce Dern, Bradford Dilman and the most famous Jack Nicholson. The kind of uyy that looked like his head wold explode at any moment.
ОтветитьLOVE this movie! That guy on the crutches getting massacred actually stayed with me for a bit after watching this. (hackey-head)
Also, I will never ever miss the timing of any "Da-Doo!" Not now, not ever.
They screened this at an Exhumed Films Horrorthon a few years back and it was a lot of fun watching it in a packed theatre of excited horror fans.
ОтветитьMore like "Dean WORM-er" amiright?
ОтветитьA shout out to Brandon Tenold there.
ОтветитьHoly crap! That was the Mentors! I cannot believe their music is in a movie.
ОтветитьRented this from blockbusters, here in the UK, back in the day. It was titled invasion of the body suckers over here
ОтветитьIs Dee Dee the same old blind woman from Deadpool?
ОтветитьYou are on your game sir!!!! "What's this all a boot?!" LOL
ОтветитьMan it feels like I’ve been subbing to this channel for years! It still delivers for sure 👍
ОтветитьThis was a trip to be certain.
ОтветитьThey used to play this movie constantly on one of the local networks, and it traumatized me as a kid. Years later, I finally found it again (which was no easy feat because of the damned nonsense name) and rewatched it only to be pleasantly surprised at how good it is! It's three movies in one: an outbreak movie, an Alien clone, and a comedy, and it really gives you your money's worth - it's a really expensive movie made with very little money.
ОтветитьThe title Blue Monkey is actually more clever than it appears. It has multiple meanings...
In some europeon slang it's a term for someone who gets made a fool out of, it's also an alcoholic drink which fits into the theme of booze savin' the day, it refers to a type of monkey with "abhoreal reproductive" rituals, it's also considered to be a rarity of nature like these bugs are, and it has also been referred to as a metaphor for outbreak and disease, and seeing as this takes place in a hospital, also fitting.
I got confused by the title, I'm sure there's a martial arts film called Blue Monkey or is my brain playing tricks on me?
ОтветитьThanks bro
ОтветитьTyrone is blonde.
ОтветитьI have this on VHS and now have a reason to finally watch it. I have so many that some just get lost in the collection haha
ОтветитьYO WAS THAT DYSON FROM T2!?
Edit: it was not. My day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable.
The soldiers guarding the hospital are clearly in the Canadian Army uniforms of the day and carry C1 rifles (Canadian version of FN FAL). No attempt to Americanize them.
ОтветитьAnother great creature feature: The Kindred (1987)
ОтветитьThe perfect cut to Little Shop and im only 2min in
ОтветитьThe original VHS box scared the shit outta me when I was a kid. I remember going to the local video store, straight to the horror section and scanning vhs boxes. I saw this movie, turned it around to read the plot and seeing the old man scene. I was like 😱
ОтветитьYou can aboot determine the Canadianess of a movie from the early to mid-1980s by who and how many SCTV and SCTV-adjacent actors are in it and Joe Flaherty and Robin Duke score this one high, eh.
ОтветитьOh shit, that detective is Dwayne Barry, from the X-Files!
ОтветитьSeriously, I did not want to remember Nukie.
ОтветитьDude, I love you! Thanks for being you!
ОтветитьOkay, so let me get this straight: Some old guy gets stung by an exotic plant and throws up a cocoon in a hospital where a bunch of nosy kids pour magical growth powder on it which causes the cocoon to turn into a giant mantis that lays like a million eggs, but it's also apparently carrying some kind of infectious disease which causes the government to swoop in and threaten to kill everyone inside the hospital, but luckily there is a sci-fi laser device in the basement which the protagonists use to blow up the monster?
This movie feels like at least three different scripts rolled into one.
Spasms looks interesting. I'm going to have to try and look up nookie honestly never heard of that one. I've seen so many bad Canadian Sci-Fi movies over the years I probably give you PTSD LOL I wonder have you ever watched a boy and his dog as an example. Sci-fi post-apocalyptic film during that whole vein where everybody was trying to copy Mad Max it was filmed in Canada on a budget of approximately $20 most of the actors paid to be in the film apparently which is how they managed to pay for making it. If you think I'm joking and you haven't already watched the film watch the film LOL it looks like it was filmed by a couple of college students with borrowing camcorders. You'd have to watch the movie to understand what I mean when you watch Evil Dead you try to wrap your brain around how this movie had no budget and yet you'd swear it had more budget than a lot of movies made in the 1980s and then you see a movie like a boy and his dog and your left asking were drugs and food payment for the film? Future cop with David Carradine is another good one I love their use of the Nintendo Power Glove LOL. You'd be surprised how many movies The Power Glove has turned up in used as a prop of some sort back in the '80s.
ОтветитьWOMEN TALKING. or let's exploit a candle. to shove bearly thought out. propaganda. about man hating and. slander, oh sorry the book was liable. Lets pretend like some religiouse colony which teaches Men and women together and was totally not happy about the Gass rapistsare all missogenists. Yea, that movie really gets under my skin
ОтветитьMissed everything in 3 weeks. Happy to have a backlog to watch for once
ОтветитьCount Floyd
ОтветитьShe starts playing "I'm a Peeping Tom" by The Mentors! 😱😱😱
ОтветитьI love finding a new movie to watch with the great Joe Flaherty! (even if he's a goof)
ОтветитьGoddamit... this is definitely NOT the video to watch while having dinner! :(
ОтветитьOK, thank you for helping confirm I've already seen this. I kept thinking it was extremely similar to film called 'Bug.' No, it was called 'Insect.'
ОтветитьIt still makes zero sense for this to be called Blue Monkey
ОтветитьIts Deep Throats origin story.
ОтветитьAs soon as I saw Joe Flaherty I knew it was a Canadian production
Ответить
