Would you go wireless with your drivetrain, or are you sticking with cables for now? Let the chat know 👇
Ответитьgo chainless (beltless)
ОтветитьI had the XT Dual Controls. Looked really cool, but braking and shifting at the same time was let’s say ‘challenging’ 😂
ОтветитьThe "Free Bikes for Kids" channel was the first to inform me , by private message , that the "incorporated into derailleur" battery compartment / solid jockey wheel edition XTR had been released . Jeff Barber at Singletracks shared photographs of the derailleur with a review article a fortnight ago .
Ответитьits always be the price and durability 😂
ОтветитьAre these wireless shifters gonna trickle at least to the Cues groupset?
ОтветитьNext...they should replace pedals with motors 😂
ОтветитьUnno used to produce their frames in Barcelona, but since the Unno Burn/Mith v1 they ve stopped. You save about a grand on the frames since then if you build a Unno bike
ОтветитьIf there is humidity its not AZ. Probably Texas
ОтветитьGetting real bored with all the xc tech stuff. Can we get back into the dh stuff please?
ОтветитьWould be crazy to see SRAM and SHIMANO Team up to design the ultimate wireless group set.
ОтветитьWhen I got my first proper MTB, there were 4 different levels of Altus.
Mine was Altus A20 with an A10 front mech, so what was really a basic spec bike wasn't the lowest spec possible.
I think the lower tiers were C10 and C20?
I find it bonkers now that they were producing so many parts that were so nearly identical, but in those days the only alternative to a Shimano MTB groupset was a different Shimano MTB groupset.
It gave the bike manufacturers a way to offer a price range of models when all bikes were 26" fully rigid with cantis, and your only other significant choice was aluminium or steel (and then choices of alloy such as chro-mo vs hi-tens steel)
I think the results of the 2024 Olympics is proof that mechanical is still plenty good enough.
ОтветитьYou forgot the misstep of Rapid Rise, so frustrating.
Also the massive jump from thumb shifting (indexed) to the rapid fire shifters.
It makes sense for Shimano to simplify the line up. Cues is the new low end, Deore is in the middle where SLX was (but does need new brakes), and XT on the high. XTR is "separate" but fewer product lines is good business.
ОтветитьSaint is still the best because of the cool golden accents 🔥🔥🔥
ОтветитьMtb is out pricing new riders, I’m not talking about adult learners I’m talking about the kids
Ответитьfirstly, this stuff is really cool! no doubts about its quality. secondly, much rather use a more affordable, mechanical drive train and have better wheels or fork.
ОтветитьWas super excited about new mtb di2, but they left out my deal breaker feature: index finger shifting. For years, this has been a Shimano USP. It is the reason that my flash XC bike runs xt mechanical, not transmission (like Short's flash XC bike). I guess it and the significantly less flash bikejoring rig are staying mechanical.
ОтветитьWhy in the world didn't the Shimano engineers use this redesign to change to modern, larger pulley wheels? Again, an example of Shimano's resistance to change. I know, I know there are many Shimano lovers out there but you can't deny that Sram has been pushing the innovation and Shimano has been playing catch up since 1x came out.
ОтветитьWould be great to have a shorter wired deore shifter for a smaller cassette/
ОтветитьWhat will happen to SLX?
ОтветитьMad fact about STX RC, they brought out a cassette with the groupset that was not made for any other groupset, it's main feature was it down shifted as well as it upshifted and it was smooth, problem was it was a fragile cassette that would wear out easily, so shimano scrapped it, i had one and it was way above anything for shifting at the time and even now, not kidding, I'll investigate and try to find the name of the cassette tech shimano said it was
ОтветитьAnybody price these out yet, on the retail level? I'm working out a new build and the difference in cost of XTR vs. XT is about a hundred bucks. Why bother with XT then?
ОтветитьI’d rather buy a used 5 year old XT than a new “wireless”
ОтветитьWhy would I want wireless, once the parts are bolted to my bike? Electronic shifting, yes absolutely, but aside from installation, wireless is just additional licensing cost, weight, waste & failure modes.
Ответить"space age technology" Pinned TV is right. GMBN has turned into children's TV now!
ОтветитьThe "RC" stands for Racing Concepts
Ответитьtire pressure tools, schwalbe has one too, do take into account the jaw width, which is the internal width of your rim the distance between the two inside walls that your tires hug
ОтветитьRC was for “racing”. If I remember well STX was 7speed and STX RC was 8 speed. Actually the rear hub has the 8sp legend on it.
ОтветитьGravel? Just Get a hardtail already.
Ответитьso uh up here in canada, the xtr shifter derailleur charger battery set is 1339 and the xt blah blah is like 1159 all mrsp ofc, 150 bucks difference isnt that exciting lol
ОтветитьTalking about searching the cob webs! STX RC is a mountain bike group set, RC was the ride light components. Good set, replaced with the Deore line, LX.
ОтветитьWireless part is irrelevant to me .. what concerns me is
1/ support and production for non battery products
(How will cues affect availability of older products spares)
2/ putting anything in a bike that requires internet/smartphone/batteries and the worst “updates”
My life already has too many devices demand internet, updates and charging .. and I aim to reduce this every year.. so adding a new device thats going to try and force an update mid ride is not on my list
The only issue I can see with the Deore derailleur and shifter is the AXS GX is considerably less expensive, right? Like ~ $200 cheaper?
ОтветитьLove these new products. Currently replacing on two bikes EP8 to EP801 then XTR with 11 Speed Linkglide. Thinking of going balls to the wall with XTR brakes too.
ОтветитьNot at all impressed with the battery life on these electronic mechs. The ebike versions are great but the ones with the standalone batteries make zero sense to me. I would keep running out of battery constantly. On a different topic I'm pleased to see Shimano moving to cartridge bearings on their mtb hubs. I wouldn't use cup and cone bearings if they were free. If they could bring back their affordable silent rear hub that would be the best thing ever. Is there a conflict with a patent on that one, or why did they kill it off? A silent hub is literally the only upgrade I want to make to my bike but they're prohibitively expensive.

ОтветитьI hope you can answer this question for me. I have an E bike. It’s got a 750W motor a 60 V 25 amp controller, and a torque sensor, when I ride behind somebody that goes really slow and I’m in PAS 1 my power keeps going off and on off and on is that normal or will that damage my controller or motor?
