Maybe it's from growing up watching the late days of Cracked where you guys did videos before the site died, but every time Katy, or Cody, or other Cracked Alumni come on the show, it feels like I'm listening in on a conversation between two older siblings as they talk about this fucked up dude they know of. Granted, I'm 1987 born, so maybe it's weird to feel that way about y'all, but like not in a parasocial family thinking way, but in a normalish way. I dunno.

My mother did the sort of medical foster care that gets the big big stipends and we were pretty consistently at least $2000 in debt up until my grandfather died and my mom inherited his money. They're some big stipends, but it turns out that's because things like daily labs, immunosuppresant drugs for transplants, transplants themselves, etc are all really expensive.

on the point of military taking people with mental issue later on, its true. My cousin is schiterphrenic and had a history of going off his meds already when he joined the army. He was later discharged, but the army was well aware of his medical history when he first joined. So, I can confirm, if this cult leader had tried a few years later, he would not have been denied. (my cousin is a sweet guy, i love him, but still being on active duty away from base is not a good time to stop taking meds in my opinion)

I've been following Nature Boy and his cult since their Costa Rica days. I watched this crazy shit play out in real time. I'm talking about the rants, the arguments, the abuse, the rants, the abuse, and THE ABUSE. I remember people calling the cops, trying to get this dude behind bars, and for whatever reason he would invade lengthy jail time, until he moved to Georgia, USA, and it all went downhill for him, and thank god it did.

Definitely agree with ADD being a disability... I knew folks who were diagnosed as kids who had a bear of a time in school, and it was bad on the meds and bad off the meds with no winning. Parents who were the most supportive were taking their kid to a psych every month and paying for medication, so it's also not like there's no support cost associated and I know that the emotional strain for everyone can be quite high. I myself wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until I was in my mid 20s, but I had a wicked bad time for years and years with school even though I was a fairly good student and with any work that wasn't very immediate and physical, as well as with most household chores. Only realizing in retrospect how much harder my life was than it could have been.

i had a coworker when i worked at a warehouse who i'm pretty sure listened almost exclusively to black consciousness sphere. this was also around the time the first covid vaccines were coming out so you can imagine the kind of insufferable he was. mostly i felt bad for him though, he seemed convinced there were attacks coming from every direction and he seemed concerned with keeping his family safe.

It provides insight and detail on a story that would normally be "lit up" as a tabloid story and then forgotten.

i haven't looked at the comments yet so i'm just gonna go ahead and say robert, you can't own the packers by yourself because they are the only nfl team owned by the fans, a fact i know because my parents are the proud owners of one (1) share in the team, and assume that somehow no one else has mentioned it yet!

Bad thing about social media: Cult leaders spread and ruin more people's lives.
