I’ve been waiting for you to cover Alex’s content for ages. Seeing you on his podcast someday would be a dream come true!
Ответитьsure I know him.. hes a priveledged 13 yr old boy that likes to talk about philosophy lol dude has never struggled in his life
ОтветитьAlex is a gem.
ОтветитьThere was a time I would've unsubscribed (or at least be wary) when realising a content creator was religious (for channels like this ofcourse, not for example some random gaming channel ). Your "outing" video a while back did pause me for a while and I am glad to say you made me rethink my stance. I'm still an atheist and probably will ever be. And no way I would ever be able to make myself believe morality could ever come from a god that is as violent an petty as the christian god. That being said. I like your content, I like Alex O'Conner's content. Not going to lie, I was a bit afraid seeing the thumbnail :)
ОтветитьAthism as an idea is just the position of not believing , or being convinced, of the existence of a god.
I find it very strange that you consider it an impossibility that you will ever change your mind on the existence of God. This seems completely at odds with your otherwise rational approach.
I will have to check out your video on faith.
I don’t see the trolley question as a paradox at all. The rules are set up and the choice is obvious.
What I think is a better question is why is that one innocent life worth less than the five?
He still for some reason is afraid of debating Vegan Gains
ОтветитьAmmon…………?
ОтветитьAlex O Connor has the stupidest arguments ever. Even Ben Shapiro destroyed him one time because he literally admitted solipsism, which is the dumbest thing you could do, lol
ОтветитьGod knowing what you're going to do before you decide is not core Christian doctrine. It's false.
ОтветитьBig fan of Alex O
ОтветитьI vote the next stream be "Let's talk about Professor Dave"
ОтветитьIf you believe morality comes from God, how do you justify the bible condoning slavery and homosexual being described as an abomination? Even in casea of god promoting the death of children, woman and animals. If you are 1000% convinced then your not open to evidence that you could be wrong.
Imo agnosticism is the only honest opinion. The god hypothesise is unfathomable no matter if you are a agnostic atheist or theist. If you are a nostic theist and know god exist you should be able to demonstrate that knolage and prove god
It's false that everything that's possible will eventually happen in infinite time. Free choice is not probabalistic, so everyone can choose not to kill anyone.
ОтветитьYou should check Deconstruction Zone. People can argue about philosophy endlessly, but the texts are hard to argue about unless words don't mean words
ОтветитьThe negative sum game is really primitive. The Christian duty is to humbly and therefore carefully act in the world to avoid the negative sum game.
It is not an accident that the primitive materialist must reach for hypothetical negative-sum game theory to make a childish point. The game is played rather than simply saying all ethics are situational and relative. A person may have a mind of refined education and be highly cultured. But they are, by definition, uncivilized. At least in the republican or most fruitful social organization known.
I see Alex sitting in the cave. Watching shadow puppet theater with Jon Stewart. The ancient.
I think, Jordan Peterson is an example of the more you know the less you understand
ОтветитьIf you need god to be a morale person, then you are not a morale person…that’s my opinion.
ОтветитьRichard Dawkins stated that his mission to debunk religion was based on 9/11.
Which just makes me shake at my head because he went after Christians instead of Muslims.
Most likely because he was a coward, the UK seems to have a big problem with “Muslim grooming gangs.” And Muslims who will flat out tell you that they are going to take over all of the UK. He doesn’t have the nerve to talk to them and insult their religion.
Would we pull the lever if one of our children was tied to the track?
Sacrificing yourself to save others is exactly what Jesus did. So, if throwing yourself under a train were an option, would that not be following Jesus’ example as opposed to suicide?
Surely someone who is willing to kill someone else and then forget about it wouldn’t be bothered about the memory of killing someone, anyway. So, they may as well not kill someone.
You were saying there was a problem with the volume.
It reminded me of a gentleman that I worked with named Gerard LaRusso.
He said his family got mad at him for yelling at the house, to which he replied
“I’m not yelling, I’m Italian, this is just the way I talk!”
😂
This is the fist time I saw this guy get all religious. I am not religious but he was balanced respectful of atheist types. That cool. I think lot of atheists that have more in common with moderate Christian than a radical communist
ОтветитьThere can be: a God (or gods) but no afterlife, A God and an afterlife, No God and an afterlife, No God and no afterlife.
ОтветитьGood channel he was balanced with the religious stuff he was careful not to be too religious but at same time was respectful to atheistic beliefs. I respect that . This is the type of Christian I could hang out with and watch. Fellow atheists argue the belief respect the person. Trolly stuff was interesting. lol
Ответить@metatron there is something that you aren't taking into account in the free will scenario. Your dad is omnipotent, and able to cause things to occur with just a thought. God can. The omniscience isn't the real issue, its the omniscience and omnipotence together.
I'm not an atheist, i am actually a firm believer in God and am a Christian. I even believe that we do have free will. I just struggle philosophically as to how it's possible, when God can make anything happen just by willing it, and he knows the future. Those two abilities together, don't mesh with free will in my mind.
Though, honestly I don't even think about it in my normal life, as it is a philosophical question not a practical one.
What about lucifarianism?
ОтветитьPlease, what are your perspectives on Gnosticism
ОтветитьWhat are your perspectives on Christian Gnosticism
ОтветитьWhy aren't you talking with Jason Breschears?
ОтветитьWe need a 5 hr video on islam mr. Metatron !!!!!
ОтветитьKnowing what will happen in the future is not equivalent to forcing the hand of secondary causes! (Humans)
ОтветитьTo help you define where morality comes from for atheists, it’s the same place that you get yours from.
God is a human construct, Mr. Tron.
Burden of proof cannot be shifted by fantasy to God less so to Christianity
ОтветитьI think Alex put’s forth these paradox’s in order to avoid the objective moral reality and the 10 commandment’s. People usually oppose this subject matter because it touches on a particular sin they like to maintain.
ОтветитьA clear sign of pragmatic intelligence is having an opinion on a matter, but seeing others' opinions as having merit. It shows maturity of thought and the knowledge that there's always a chance that you're wrong, even in fundamental ways.
ОтветитьYes, I know him. I follow his channel; I think he's smart and enjoy listening to his reasoning
ОтветитьAlex is what happens when you become an atheist through your deep yearning for knowledge and have an immense understanding of religion and conciousness
As opposed to reddit atheists who are just debate perverts who think dunking on random religious people is the peak of human achievement.
Im an atheist, and i know this sounds crazy but its actually super easy to not be socially toxic with your atheism. Empathy is a massive foundation of my world view, and my politics, and that empathy doesnt dissapear when a religious person passes through my social periphery.
Ezpz
(Edit: also i consider myself an atheist in that "currently there is no god". I dont so much like to say "i dont know so im agnostic" i prefer to say "at this time there is no god, subject to change with new evidence". Because this is me upholding my values and applying them consistently, if evidence comes out that god exists, im not going to sit there and be like "no NO BUT IM AN ATHEIST!")
The problem with the Omega trolly paradox is . . . if I pull the lever, I am responsible for the one death. If I do nothing, the system is responsible for 5.
ОтветитьGLORY!!!'m favoured, $45,580 biweekly! And am retired i can now give back to the locals in my community and also support God's work and the church. God bless America 🇺🇸 ❤️
ОтветитьI respect your way of thinking about freewill, but i think the thought process is wrong. Just because your father can predict your choice because he knows your interest by observation as you grew up is far different from God creating you life from beginning to end where any choice you make has already accounted for. I think the issue is most people are thinking of it like God is a psychic this is not the case its that God created everything on the set path so he knows the outcome of any decision you will make because its how he already set it up.
ОтветитьI used to like Alex a lot, a long time ago, but right around when he went vegan he started getting so self righteous, I just couldn't listen to him anymore. Haven't seen or heard anything from him since then, until now.
ОтветитьThe fundamental premise of Alex is flawed. If he exists, or indeed if anything exists, therefore God.
Of course, the definition of God changes person to person, depending on what they do/don't beleive.
The spaghetti monster is a satirical response to the universal reverence for theocracy. There was a person who won the right to wear a pasta strainer on their head in a official government id
ОтветитьWhat if you made it if a only men were on the line . . . how would the scenario change . . . the chance of the later person would pull the lever would also increase exponentially.
Ответить
