I would never buy anything for it is a bunch of junk rip-off companies get out of this
Ответить😢😢😢
ОтветитьIt was inevitable but I wish it would have happened a few years later since we just took delivery of a 2021 Phaeton. Time will tell. I agree that they purchase a company to make money and there will be corporate pressure on Tiffin that never existed. Quarterly pressure will be different, Let’s see if they extend warranties or continue to ship parts direct to customers after a year or two.
ОтветитьWell I guess our carry to someone else not buying from them
ОтветитьEverything Thor touches turns to crap, eventually. It's sad. Tiffin is quality and customer service and satisfaction
ОтветитьI don't like sales like this. Companies we've all come to know and trust selling to, well, lets just say, less respected companies. But keep one thin in mind. Sometimes the merger of 2 companies and the capital, engineering and experience it ends up with becomes much more than any of the previous companies could of ever become alone. Oh I guess we can all mope in the thought everything will fall apart but after this year I'm done moping. I hope we see the next bus that'll give Liberty and Marathon a run for the money with a cost effective competitor.
ОтветитьGlad they are going to financially ok for many many years to come, Thor Industries are not known for their quality of work more like the quantity ok work put out and that means lower build quality for sure. I have owed a tiffin in the past and i have seen many Thor products across the board of products and lets just say i would NEVER buy those brands. I hope for Tiffin's sake it does not effect them to badly.
ОтветитьCrap another one which will become junk.
ОтветитьWow, this is terrible news. Terrible.
ОтветитьHappy for Bob Tiffin and family, but as a current 2018 Jayco owner and former 2016 Tiffin Allegro owner I have mixed feelings. When a corporation such as Thor or Winnebago buy smaller well run companies like Newmar and Tiffin they are counting on the brand loyalty to come with it. The problem is Jayco's quality has declined since Thor bought them out, so who suffers. Hope the same does not happen to Newmar, Grand Design and Tiffin.
ОтветитьWell if Thor can’t build a descent RV now they have bought a company that can build Great Motorhomes that how you do it.
ОтветитьThor Industries isn't the same as Thor Motor Coach. There are many brands owned by Thor that are said to have quality products and great service, Entegra is but one example. Tiffin needed a buyer because they are marginally profitable, and during a relatively good few years for the industry that's telling. Be happy, the alternative was far, far worse.
ОтветитьRV sales are at an all time high! Always sell at the high!
Ответитьsad, perhaps not immediately but there will be trickle down corporate influence... :-(
ОтветитьI do not intend to make a political statement. Just a statement of what I consider to be truth, which is that the corporate takeover of the family-owned, quality motorhome manufacturers won't take long to end RVing altogether. Why would anyone want to end RVing? Because it is the essence of freedom in America. Think I am a conspiracy nut? Watch and see where motorhome manufacturing is in 5-10 years. There will only be three corporations - or less - you can turn to in order to buy one, and then the restrictions will be prohibitive for anyone who is not a millionaire. The corporation buy-out of small businesses, like motorhome manufacturers, is like a Pac-Man gobbling up what is around it. Thanks for keeping us informed Izzy and MJ. You guys are good people. Be safe.
Ответитьwill not be the same product anymore!!!!
ОтветитьWhen a company goes from privately held to public, then profit generally becomes more highly prioritized. Tiffin has a far better name with regard to quality than Thor. Understandably, existing customers are concerned about continued quality and customer care getting "watered down". Bob Tiffin was always as good as his word. A non-human android corporation may have different "prime directives". This in general is a problem with today's capitalism, which tends to turn into "monopolistic capitalism". I say this as a capitalist. "economies of scale" turn self-employed entrepreneurs into employees, with increasingly weighted accountability to profit margins. I really hope that Bob Tiffin has negotiated a '"performance proxy" that will allow him to continue to run his former company with his prior level of integrity. The "good enough" paradigm that has manifested in today's society is actually not good enough. Quality craftsmanship has resultantly been marginalized and suffers at the hands of planned obsolescece.
ОтветитьTiffin selling at the right time. It does seem like they could have gotten more $ for the company. Need to see the books to dive deeper. Good for the family. Likely not so good for the product quality and customer service.
ОтветитьWow, I would love to see two things happen with the transition. Remove the ten year discrimination/service policy and change their service appointment policy.
Newmar has always been the leader in this respect.
So much for anti-trust laws....😂😂😂.
ОтветитьTo me it’s sad though I understand the owners ready to get out from under their companies. However, I’m sure that the motor homes were very well built under the supervision of the owner.
ОтветитьHope this doesn't impact the Tiffin Quality or Customer Service they have been known for.
ОтветитьSad to hear. Thor is garbage and now they will ruin a great brand.
ОтветитьNewell Coach and Liberty Coach are still privately owned. Liberty is owned and run by the sons of the man who started the company - great story!! Purchase new is 2million+ Used Newell’s are occasionally available for the price of a new top-of-the line Newmar; still out of my league :-( Regardless, a used Newell or Liberty (Marathon, Millennium, also) will be far superior to any of the mainstream Diesel Pushers.
ОтветитьOh man. This is insane. Well at least we being Newmar owners got bought out by Winnebago. lol This video will really blow up. Y'all are way out in front of everyone. Great job.
ОтветитьTiffin followed Newmar. It was just a merger of time. Bob built a great company and brand. He a smart man and I believe he knew when it was time to move on. I wish him and his family all the best. They will still be in running the operation. Our only hope is that Thor doesn’t mess with the successful customer experience we as Owner have had.
ОтветитьThat stinks. Thor's quality is not the best.
ОтветитьI went through multiple mergers in the industry I work in, first things are the same for awhile until they can figure out how to move things like payroll and billing, ordering purchasing, etc over to there existing systems and then they start reducing the employees in the "easier" departments. Then they look at what can be done in a less expensive process or method and that will eliminate resources. All the while saying they will keep the rigs the same. Then they will look at how to add parts of it to an existing line they have to "share expenses" on the product, then it will be merged together and sites closed to reduce expenses so they do not need to raise prices, then they will raise prices after that. It is taught in Masters business classes how to do it. My best wishes for all involved and hope it works out the best for them, some may get an early retirement and spend time with grandkids, etc. Merry Christmas all.
ОтветитьThat’s a shame. I’m sure the quality will start to go downhill eventually.. Thor sucks as a company and build a crappy product.
ОтветитьIt’s sad but what can we do about Tiffan? As long as Bob Tiffan is happy and his family too then I’m happy. As long as he’s still helping out with making them with his family then I’m happy they are all in it.
Thsnk you Izzy! Hope you know what I mean. Marry Christmas
Well, there goes the neighborhood. :(
ОтветитьSad story! So sad when big businesses buy, or chase out, home grown American companies; think Walmart running out the mom ‘n pop stores.
I could never afford a Newmar, Tiffin or other grand Class A RV. I went with Winnebago because of their long history. I’ve had Jayco many years ago (towable) that was wonderful and before the industry crash; a Forrest River (ultra light weight) and the ultra light weight says it all; a small Winnebago Trend (too small to live in) and mechanically a bear for service. I now have a bare bones 32ft Winnebago Vista. I worked with a Winnebago dealership in Texas who worked well with me to get the best deal on a new RV. One huge water leak issue is being taken care of by the factory because I had never had in water (rain) since I bought it and it was no longer under warranty and the dealership would not help me because it was out of warranty. I have to give a huge shoutout to Winnebago in Forest City for their customer service.
Again, such a sad story. I hope the engineers and manufacturing process stays the same, and perhaps influences Thor.
Thank you for sharing.
Buy them now, because Thor is going to wreck the Quality Control.
ОтветитьBob and the management team will be gone in a year. Bob Tiffin is getting older and saw the opportunity to cash out at the top of the RV boom due to COVID-19. I don't blame the guy, but the Tiffin service and quality (as quality goes in RVs) will be crap within 2 years. Get a list of top management (family or otherwise) at Tiffin right now and I can guarantee you 75% of them will be gone in 2 years.
This is sad to see and I want to know why the Department of Justice is not stopping this buyout? Thor just about has a monopoly in the RV industry. No competition means the quality just gets worse as time goes on. Every Thor product except airstream is crap. I am not sure how airstream has escaped the Thor crap quality over the last 40 years.
I just wish thor's workmanship wasn't so trash.
ОтветитьI've had 2 Thor RVs, dutchman and Damon. The build quality absolutely sucked.
ОтветитьExcuse me sir...Airstream is not made as well as they used to be. Under Thor, Airstream now spaces their rivets, that hold their RV's together, further apart and rely on sealants to keep the sheets of aluminum water tight. Silicone is cheaper than rivets. When you look at the details...Thor makes cheap crap!
ОтветитьNote to self.....Stay away from Tiffins made after the 2021 model year. Thor will ruin the Tiffin name, over time.
ОтветитьI think they'll do fine for many years, as Thor has proven that they tend to keep their hands kind-of out of these companies' business and let them keep building what they've always built. But, the again, there's lots of into out there that Airstream isn't what it once was (but they've been under Thor since the 1980's). That said, isn't Newell still family owned? I guess I've got to start a go-fund-me to get my Newell kitty built up! ;-)
ОтветитьI guess time will tell but I worry about the quality with Thor acquiring them. Sad to see.
ОтветитьSucks. Been a Tiffin owner since 2006. Reason: Quality and customer service. Now that there are really no quality companies that aren't owned by a large Corp, I think it's time that lemon laws came into effect for RV owners. Make these RV manufacturers, who are protected behind their corporations and attorneys, responsible for some of the junk they put out on the road.
ОтветитьTiffin found the right partner to bring Tiffin down congratulation
ОтветитьTiffin will maintain some control over their product while the influx of cash will help the company improve quality control and customer/dealer interactions . Tiffin RV’s have a loyal customer base and will remain competitive in the market.
ОтветитьWell crap. We are new to the game of RV-ing and we are doing a bunch of research to figure out which coach we want to get. Tiffin was #1 on our list. I say "was" because we have looked at some Jaycos and Thors and I was not impressed at all. There's no way we're dropping nearly a half million dollars on a Thor product. Not worth it at all.
I guess we keep looking. Entegra is becoming more appealing but they really need to step up their interior game. Tiffin had us sold on their light colored interiors and the modern trim around the inside of the slide outs. After Thor gets their hands on it it will all be plastic and cost more.
This announcement instantly makes me not trust these coach now. We need to know we will have a company that supports us when we are in the middle of nowhere.
Hope the quality doesn't decline. We will see.
ОтветитьWell I just found this video. This is what I think ; Is these 🦈 are taking over the brands and quality goes away; we the consumers need to rally and rebel against it. We will need to present this to a decent government that can actually care . We don't have a good government now but certainly we can rally and demand quality products. If we don't buy they go a big problem. You guys should use your platform to educate the public how we all can work together on this problem that is and will affect everyone.
ОтветитьGreat more junk pumped out by a company that doesn’t care about quality. Too bad.
ОтветитьThor has horrible quality and nightmare customer service. 😢
ОтветитьYep, Thor industries make jayco crap? Yep, I got one of the pieces of crap. One foldout is breaking in half since day one. Dealerships screw you over because they won't do anything for you and the thousands spent on extended warranty was worthless.
Ответить
