For the filling
1 cup lentils
2 cups water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 onion finely chopped
8 ounce ground beef
1 teaspoon turmeric
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt

1 cup raisins
1 cup Medjool dates pitted
For the rice:
6 1/3 cups water divided
2 cups basmati rice washed and drainedrice

2 potatoes sliced
1 cup raisins
1 cup Medjool dates pitted
