I studied Latin at the university last year and when I took Italian language my first reaction was - is this literally modern Latin or what? It was way easier to study Italian grammar after Latin.

This is very helpful! I'm german and the structure of the questions in your examples is exactly the same in German: "Wann fährt der Zug nach Rom (ab)?" I had several years of Latin in school, so hopefully I'll make progress fast.

This three-part tutorial is absolutely brilliant. I only have 2 weeks to pick up as much as I can. Most tutorials give the basic word for word translations, but your videos tie everything in and provide so much more context around the language and grammar. The bit on Latin versus Germanic words - so interesting! I feel more confident about being able to understand some Italian now, at least enough for my trip. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! =)

Thank you very much for these great videos. Going to join beginners evening class at my local community centre. Had thought i was too old to learn a language, but this has changed my mind. You have given some great tips to get started easily.

I am from Italian (Sardinia) descent and have been there a few times but not enough to be fluent in the language. I am very grateful for your videos which I find very helpful. I have been trying to figure out your accent but the best I could come up is that you don't sound from the south of Italy. Do you mind telling which part of Italy are you from? Thanks
