I find myself with an INTENSE desire to live for less of this world everyday and strive to live more for Jesus Christ. So much so, that I have grown somewhat disgusted by the Protestant Church and wanting more and more a deeper connection and relationship to God. I find myself drawn to Orthodoxy. My sticking point is that I live several hours from the nearest Orthodox Church.

19 years old here. Everyone my age sees the Christian faith as nothing more than to mock at and not take seriously. They find more interest in partying, gossip, social media trends, drinking/drugs, etc. I have no interest in all these things, many of them are just vain time wasters at best and soul-destroying at worst. Where can I find people my age who share a desire to grow in the faith, and live the Orthodox Christian life? All the parishes are full of very nice older people with lots of good wisdom, but nobody my age for possible friends or a future wife. All my friends are Muslims or secularists which I can’t go any deeper than small talk, and all the women find me boring because I don’t party, get drunk or indulge in social media 24h a day. Dating especially takes a hit unless you indulge in all the things I previously mentioned.

is the man in this video Orthodox? he has what looks to be monastery icons (pagan syncretist company) along with a “Holy family” Icon, which depicts Joesph as a young man in love with Mary. This is contrary to the traditional eastern view that Joseph was older and a caretaker not a lover.

You cannot serve 2 masters, you cannot have 1 foot in heaven and 1 in the world, you cannot sit at the same table as Christ and also at the same table of demons. We're here in this world but follow the ways of our Lord, it is the Lord's ways we should have in our hearts, not the world's ways.

For me it does not matter . I have both in my home and they are beautiful. Jesus is the Christ and beyond color what matters 😂

The demons will upset for sharing this. Orthodox Christian here from Ethiopia and according to our church fathers instead of going to gym there is great method of workout that highly benefit both our soul and body. And that is daily frequent PROSTRATION. Prostration is an act of worship, surrender and submissiveness to the almighty God. It is also our spiritual weapon that demons fear.

The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father's family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. We need to leave everyone and everything behind that's going to be on our way
