sorry. I will pronounce it EXACTLY as it is shown in the ENGLISH spelling. If you use English Alphabets, we will say it as it spells.

Native Vietnamese speaker here. This guy's not even Vietnamese and he's out here telling everyine the completely wrong pronunciation!

It doesn't matter whether its the northern accent, or the southern accent, or the central accent, this is not how you pronounce it!

He can't even get the pronunciation of the first two letters correct!

Actually you don't pronounce N and Y, so it's not pronounce nuyen. When you see Ng, basically pronounce the sound from your nose.

I am Vietnamese and this pronunciation is 100% wrong. It is /ŋwiəʔən˧˥/ (I do not know any other way to explain the true pronunciation through text) and for those who says that it is "win" or something like that, its just a way to make western people pronounce the surname easier. You can use google translate to hear the correct pronunciation if you want.

close - a little less of the "u" (not so much 'new') and the INFLECTION should go 'up'

the "ng" is a very short lingual sound (the tongue touching the top of the mouth)

if you add a "n" to the start of the Anglo name 'Gwen' and take off some of the 'en' sound, it's also very close

I think that just saying “win” with a slight “ng” at the beginning suffices, but the words I know come from southern Vietnam and Hue so maybe it’s different?

Heya Vietnamese here, it's not "win". That's just how many Westerners pronounce it, so many in fact that we can no longer correct anyone 😭😭.
I'd say the closest pronunciation to "Nguyen" is "ng'win" with the "ng" in "sing" (si"nging")
