Sounds very much like a dictatorship when Mr Kurzweil is talking about WE. What does this WE actually mean? Is this the WE of the people who program the chips that will be implanted into US? No but thank you!

The scary thing is, with a human level AI in a robot body, that is able to carry out the work of say a police officer, a soldier or prison guard. What would an army of these controlled by a despot be capable of? In history despots created great suffering, but were often eventually overthrown. How would a subjugated society overthrow a despotic ruler with an army of these robots? It seems it might be impossible. What then? Its a terrifying thought to consider.

"Humans need challenge and purpose in life to feel happy" is true but it's so often spoken in bad faith.
Competition, self-improvement, mastery, creativity, hell even human relationships - all challenging and purposeful things, and none need to fall under the umbrella of paid labor.
It's remarkably easy to find these things without work, we even have a word for it, this is called "fun."

It's a tragedy that we've become so severely maladapted to working for a wage, that many people don't know how to have fun anymore.

there's not point in 'abundance' when people keep horriding it, up charge based on usage , destroying the extra to keep price up or lowering the quality so as to go through it more quickly... if its stuff we don't need but only want than yes thats true, but when it comes to absolute needs like gas, power, food, transport, medical... those prices always goes up including margines and profits...

Love Ray! Thanks for having him on. Not a Diamandis fan. He seems . . slick? Disingenuous? I don't know, something's not right there for me. Having watched Ray for decades and read all his stuff I truly believe if Ray could free us all tomorrow and we could all live in real peace and hyperabundance he would do it. I don't know about Peter. Not sure. Anywho, can't wait to see AGI!

When Ray Kurzweil states we will not speciate, we have to take that into context. Yes, in the long run, almost all humans will eventually be integrated with AI. We will all become part biological and part technological a true cyborg. However, this will not occur instantaneously. Just as when mobile phones were first introduced, it took years and some decades to purchase one. I believe there will be a transitional time, lasting years, possibly decades or a century where we will speciate. Ultimately, the classic human being will succumb to be integrated either by choice or potentially by direct or indirect force.

People are having a harder time surving paying basic bills right now 🤷‍♀️

In the 1950s on a one income parent with stay at home 🏠 mom - they could still buy a home 🏠, car 🚗 eat properly & afford vacations

Now we are working 2-3 jobs per person to barely pay basic bills 💵 & many can’t afford to buy a home 🏠 or new car 🚗 rt now 🤷‍♀️

Ray's book, The Singularity is Near, changed the way I think about the world. I can't think of any other book that has done that.
